I checked out a book from the library called
THE COMPLETE IDIOT'S GUIDE TO INDIGO CHILDREN
by Wendy H. Chapman, Dir,MA in Ed. Psy., SRMT, and Carolyn Flynn

I typed out the
Least You Should Know section at the end for each chapter. 21 Chapters in all

I thought this was good information.

some of my gripes about the book are not including the strengths of "learning disabilities". People with learning differences do have certain strengths like Dyslexics have strong 3D Visualization ability, thinking mainly in pictures. The book seems to mention Dyslexia as only problems seeing words or letters. Most Dyslexics have auditory, phonological processing problems which means that they have problems distinguishing, understanding the sounds in words and have problems sounding them out. Reading isn't just a visual thing. It involves auditory and phonological skills. I have a history of auditory, phonological Dyslexia myself that even included auditory reversals leading to speech reversals. I also have strong 3D visualization ability, thinking mainly in pictures. I also had issues with her not including Dyspraxia which is neurodivergent condition that has significant overlap with Dyslexia,ADHD,and Autistic Spectrum. It is said that 90 percent of Dyspraxics have other neurodivergent conditions. I have Dyspraxia,Dyslexia,ADHD myself. Dyspraxics also have their strengths like outside the box thinking, strategic thinking,problem-solving skills. Many people with Autistic Spectrum have strengths like extreme visual problem solving skills, thinking mainly in pictures. Also DRD4 7R gene,an advantageous novelty seeking gene is connected to half of ADHD cases, and that was not mentioned in regards to ADHD.

Chapter 1
You can identify Indigos by their behavior, personality triats, and aura

Among the traits that define an Indigo are spiritual wisdom, high intelligence, strong empathy, and nonconformity.

Early Indigos were pioneers in their time, leaving their mark on history in creative, inventive,or subversive ways

Indigos are more than just precocious children. They come in with an advanced spiritual awareness.

An Indigo bears a double-edged sword. With the gifts come challenges.

Above all, the rule with parenting Indigos is to listen them and give them respect

Chapter 2
Indigos are here to raise the planet to a higher vibration

Alternative schooling such as homeschooling,Montessori,Waldorf, and Reggio Emilia are among the many types that will flourish becanse of Indigo Children.

Indigos come in already understanding the emerging zeitgeist of tolerance, openness, and more humanitarianism

Indigos will demand, expect, and develop more holistic and integrative healing

Indigos are too nonconformist by nature to be politicians, preferring to be reformers, not refiners, but they will bring about change in other ways.

Crystal Children are coming in after Indigos. They are deeply spiritual and here as healers.

Chapter 3
indigos often fall in the extreme ends of the spectrum. Some can be highly sensitive, while others can be highly insensitive or shut down.

Many indigos care so much about creating harmony in their environments that they take on too much of other people's energy. Energy shielding can protect them.

Simple modifications can help your highly sensitive Indigo be more comfortable in her daily life.

High physical activity Indigos may have difficulty focusing and controlling their behavior unless they have a physical outlet.

Teach your low physical activity Indigo ways to enjoy light movement, such a tai chi or yoga.

Remember that many highly emotionally sensitive Indigos are artistic and creative.

Chapter 4
The root of anger in Indigo Children very often is a disappointment that the world's current systems lag behind their expectations.

Channel the powerful energy of your child's anger into physical activity or creative projects.

Listen to your child with respect so he knows he has been heard.

Teach your child body-mind relaxation exercies to use as a way to head off or calm down anger.

Always let your child know that anger is healthy and normal, but teach her that it's an emotion that needs to be expressed appropriately.

Be aware of your own response to your child's anger, noticing what it triggers in you, and be responsible to yourself to address what is out of balance for you.

Chapter 5
Not all Indigos have ADHD; not all children with ADHD are Indigos.

ADHD is defined by inattentiveness, impulsivity, and hyperactivity.

The gifts of ADHD include a unique awareness of the world. ADHD kids notice subtle changes and think more creatively. Other learning disabilities that Indigos may have include dyslexia and Asperger's syndrome.

Alternative therapies can help avoid the negative side effects of drugs.

Shamballa, an energy healing technique, can help Indigos with ADHD--and those who don't.

Chapter 6
Many Indigo Children exhibit psychic abilities at a very young age.

Precognition---the ability to know future events---may come through all the senses---sight,touch,smell,taste,and hearing.

The way your child reacts to his psychic abilities depends on how you react. See it as a gift---and a tool he can learn how to use effectively.

Use a third-eye filter to protect your Indigo child from receiving too much psychic input.

Help your child develop intuitive protection and cultivate a strong core self to protect herself.

Many Indigos understand abstract concepts such as God early; others have an extraordinary gift for language or may develop an imaginary language.

Chapter 7
Indigos may display a remarkable level of compassion, the awareness of the pain and suffering of all living things.

Tender-hearted Indigos benefit from energy-shielding techniques that help them stay centered.

Teach your Indigo ways to set clear and compassionate boundaries that honor self and others.

Some Indigos have such a sense of compassion that they are overwhelmed and shut down. Touch therapy and movement may help.

Indigos have an innate orientation toward tolerance, which stems from their compassion and idealism. Some of these Indigos may emerge as leaders.

Give your Indigo opportunities to learn in collaborative, noncompetitive situations, and he will thrive.

Chapter 8
Honor your child's strong sense of self and resistance to conformity, but teach him the art of compromise.

Channel your original thinker's inventiveness into art, entrepreneurship---or inventions.

The independent child may have difficulty asking for what he needs. Play alongside him or ask him to instruct you in how he does something so you can stay in touch with his needs.

Give your nonconformist Indigo room to express herself as a trendsetter, but give her ways to participate in the family and other communities, expressing her uniqueness.

Some nonconformist and independent Indigos are susceptible to depression. Be alert to the signs, and know how to reach out.

Self-reliant Indigos are well on their way to the self-acceptance that can lead to leadership roles.

Chapter 9
Truly respecting your Indigo Child will earn his respect.

Including your Indigo in decisions teaches empowerment and responsibility. Offer choices within limits that are acceptable to you.

Be open to your child's innovative suggestions to solve problems in ways you may not have thought about.

Set up natural consequences that are appropriate to the situation.

"Because I'm the parent!" won't work with Indigos, but "Because I hear you and respect" will.

Change your attitude to one of acceptance and work out compromises.

Chapter 10
Because Indigo Children feel so different from other children, unconditional love is vital for giving them a solid base of support.

While unconditional love is a high ideal, you can be an effective parent by being compassionate and consistent. Stay engaged with your child, and love him for all of his specific qualities.

While on the face of it, correcting your child's behavior seem conditional, it is not. Be careful not to define love as approval and attention, but rather define it as a mutual commitment to learn and grow together.

Establish a high ethic of integrity in your family, being true to your word and following through on your commitments.

When you praise your child, be specific. Make a point of giving three praises for every criticism.

Orient your correction to constructive, action-oriented modifies that are empowering and educational for your child. Coach him in gentle, respectful ways to motivate himself to modify his behavior--that is to seee how would benefit.

Chapter 11
Adult Indigos may have suppressed some of their Indigo qualities but many are now shedding protective aura and revealing their Indigo aura.

If you're an adult Indigo, you're a survivor. You already have developed many coping skills that will benefit your child.

Many of the Flower Children from the 1960's possessed attributes of Indigos--creative,idealistic revolutionaries who challenged the status quo.

Many Indigo discussion groups exist--Wendy started of them! Seek them out. Getting support from other adult Indigos will help you understand yourself and your child.

If you're an adult Indigo and your spouse is not, use that dynamic to its advantage. Your spouse will be the anchor; you will be the one who can more readily understanding your Indigo child.

Chapter 12
Indigos are deeply aware of our connection through the eart, plants, animals, rocks, and stones,to the web of life.

Set aside time for earth-connection activities. If you child loves animals, find ways for her to have animals in her life. If your child is an explorer, give her opportunities to explore nature.

In your daily activities, be more mindful of nature, of the movements of the sun and moon, the changing of the seasons.

Indigos are well aware of the healing powers of the earth, such as crystal energy.

What Indigos yearn for are deep connections. Whether they are out in nature or on the Internet, that is what they are seeking.

It's imperative that you take a proactive role in monitoring your child's Internet activity for safety

Chapter 13
Indigo Children possess a natural abundance that is not so much about money, but about having a creative spirit.

Indigo Children bring a spiritual understanding to money that is called prosperity consciousness.

Prosperity consciousness is based on the belief in plenty--there is enough for all of us to thrive.

Many Indigos are so prolific that they can go through cycles of boom and bust.

Teach your child about money early, laying a strong foundation for money management with an allowance not tied to chores.

Indigo Children are manifesters--through focused intention and positive prosperity awareness, they can transform ideas into tangible successes.

Chapter 14
Listen to the signals you are getting from your child and his teacher about the challenges he is having in school.

Be open-minded as you collect specific information about your child.

Put a fine point in your child's learning style, using Howard Gardner's Multiple Intelligence theory or Anthony Gregore's Mind Styles Theory.

Research alternative education methods such as Waldorf,Montessori, unschooling, and homeschooling.

Reach out to other parents and support groups for help in finding the best fit for your Indigo child.

Chapter 15
Movement is important to Indigo Children is to allow them to develop a sense of a safe center within.

Yoga's yamas and niyamas cultivate a reverence for the body and respect for others. Many children love yoga poses that are named after animals, such as cobra, dog or rabbit.

Some of the extremes of behavior in your Indigo child may be tempered by correcting nutritional imbalances through diet changes or enzyme supplements.

Indigo Children are more sensitive to toxins. Nutritional expert recommends steering away from mercury, hormones in beef or dairy, fluoride, chlorine, air freshners, fabric softeners, Teflon-coated pans, Scotchguard, and aspartame and other artificial sweeteners.

Natural remedies such as flower essences or aura-soma have a calming, centering effect.

Energy healing is part of a whole medicine approach, using herbs, nutritional supplements, body/mind exercise such as yoga and modalities such as massage, acupuncture, Reiki,or Shamballa.

Chapter 16
Because of the high capacity for empathy, Indigo Children prefer win-win games. They intensely dislike competition.

Indigos will like to use collective, imaginative brainpower, both in play and in work.

Indigo Children thrive on fantasy play and creative projects more than the average child.

If it's nonlinear, it's interesting to an Indigo. Nonlinear thinking is complex, random, and uncertain. Many board games and computer games are designed this way.

It's important for Indigos to have hands-on experience with play, at museums or out on nature walks.

Many Indigos like games that challenge their verbal, math, strategic abilities.

Chapter 17
An Indigo child's rich dream can be a source for creative ideas, and sometimes, psychic messages.

Indigo Children often are good at manifestation or mind projection, the ability to turn thoughts into tangible realities. This talent can be channeled with creative visualization techniques.

It's not unusual for even young Indigo Children to experience states of pure consciousness.

Some Indigo Children have an awareness of the consciousness of all beings and all matter.

Extremely psychic Indigos may have trouble being on a day schedule. They may prefer to be nocturnal because the psychic static is quieter at night.

Near-death experiences or other dimension encounters correlate with higher intelligence.

Chapter 18
The brains of Indigo Children have more developed prefontal lobes, which scientists believe is the center of emotional intelligence.

Research that shows 60 to 65 percent of the heart is made up of neural cells supports the idea that a certain intelligence resides in the heart.

Help your Indigo child develop a solid practice of emotional management, giving her the language to identify her emotions.

Lay the groundwork for good emotional management skills early in childhood by teaching your child to check in, to meditate and center, and to use energy shielding.

Indigo Children are at the leading edge of new levels of soul-based and spiritual intelligence that are emerging. These intelligences include soul-knowing, telepathy, higher bandwidth creativity, and hyper-speed thinking.

The heart-centered Indigo approach will liberate our society from many of its constraints, ushering in a new level of emotionally intelligent problem-solving.

Chapter 19
Indigo Children believe they can change the world through interconnectedness. They will approach the creative process with progressive and positive solutions.

When it comes to marriage and family, Indigo Children are interested in spiritual unions, soul families, and solid commitments.

Behind the Indigo anger is a powerful force of healing.

Indigo Children see their resources extending beyond people resources to resources in spiritual dimensions, such as the power of our thoughts over the molecular structure of water.

Indigo Children will shape a new global ethic based on fairness and interconnectedness.

These children will lead the way to a slower lifestyle that values down time for creativity and contemplation, moving away from today's frenzied pace.

Chapter 20
Indigo Children may be wise souls who have been incarnated on this earth before, through some younger Indigos may be brande new souls.

One attribute of a wise soul is that he or she has collected many lessons and is not willing to repeat the same painful experiences.

People who have been reincarnated often come into the next life with a spiritual assignment. That's why many who believe in pastlives think Indigos have been here before.

What some describe as a past life might be cellular memory, genetic memory, or the collective unconscious. Not all spiritual traditions believe in them.

Some people see a connection between Indigo Children and the lost kingdom of Atlantis and Lemuria, possibly being reincarnated from those civilizations.

Some theorize Indigo Children are part of a Fifth Race, here to lift humankind to the next level of evolution. They tie this to the end of the Mayan long calendar on Winter Solstice in 2012.

Chapter 21
The future world Indigo Children are creating will be infused with spiritual awareness.

Mindfulness and meditation are grounding for Indigos.

Cultivate and support your child's growing psychic abilities by using games and by participating in communities where they can befriend other psychic children.

Perhaps the biggest contribution Indigo Children have already made to our wold is expanding our understanding of child development.

In the futre, we will be more child-wise, seeing chilldren as spiritual beings who work with us to write the script of their lives.

Indigo Children will lead us into a higher understanding of an exalted consciousness, a state in which one feels profoundly alive.

How should Indigo or crystal children react to dimwit parents who don't understand them and put them down constantly for not being normal?
