Remarkably, about half of the diabetics who have a gastric bypass find their diabetes is completely cured! Same for high cholesterol and high blood pressure. This procedure is done for losing weight, of course, but apparently when the stomach is injured, it produces a chemical that reboots the pancreas. We are talking total cure. Doctors use "remission," which is lingo for miracle. This is making ripples throughout the medical field, so you will hear about it soon if you haven't already. An actual study was done to prove it. Half were completely cured, and 10 percent were just on medication, with the other 40 percent hardcore diabetics.

I saw an article about this too and almost posted it.Also thought about starting a thread in Quirky Cuisine for safe desert recipies for diabetics, but I realized I don't know enough about the differences...about the two types and didnt want to start someone craving on something that they could never eat. I also don't want to post recipes that substitute bad things for sugar (even though white sugar is also bad). If i was more educated on the subject I might feel okay posting recipes found online, but I don't want to offend anyone. IP: Logged |

O_O Wow. I so wouldn't qualify for a gastric bypass. This is amazing though! Very happy for those who are cured. ------------------ quote: Remember, love can conquer the influences of the planets....It can even eliminate karma.

T, you read my mind!I start a thread there for diabetic cake some time ago but didn't think anyone was really interested. We also need to be careful about dessert recipes. Each diabetic case is unique and reacts differently to even "safe foods". It's a great idea though and a great way to raise awareness for diabetics. Sadly, there are many misconceptions regarding this dis - ease. ------------------ quote: Remember, love can conquer the influences of the planets....It can even eliminate karma.

Surgery isn't necessary. Once they isolate this chemical, it can be taken and cure it. Plus stem cell research is gaining on it. I think it will be wiped out in the not so distant future.IP: Logged |

That's what I thought, each person is unique and what is okay for one diabetic might not be for another. Yeah, still might be a nice thread to start and get ideas from. You could tweak the recipes a bit if need be? Hoping this latest hospital visit is short and you back to getting better and making a full recovery very soon. Hang in there. IP: Logged |
