I might try the Hitler vid thing too tho I really want to later. I think as long as you keep yourself full the craving for other types of food won't be too bothersome. Where would nuts fall in fruitarianism? IP: Logged |

I was vegan for about two months this year. I had decided to make a big change in my life and for a while... I did. But those dairy products... <3 I went back to dairy but I have never ever touched any steak since. I think it's because whenever I look at steak... It brings tears to my eyes knowing that an animal had to die for someone. I believe that no animal should have to die for anyone. Ever. Someday I will convert to being a fruitarian. It'd save a lot of money if I just bought fruit haha xD But that will have to wait until I'm 18 or older. My parents would never agree to that kind of diet. >_>IP: Logged |

LOL.. that was really funny, and thought-provoking. I am a vegetarian married to a meat-eater, and have been thinking about how to explain the benefits to him. IP: Logged |

Well, to be fair, he has to make up his own mind on things. I myself don't eat meat or poultry (dairy, yes, and eggs and fish on occasion). I have been highly annoyed when someone tried to push eating meat on me, as well as when people have been aggressive about being vegan. I personally don't tell people not to eat meat because I myself hate being told what to do. So, I'm not trying to be mean, but, from my own personal experience, I can say that he might not take it well. If you want to share (not force, but share, as in make as a side dish or something) vegetarian dishes with him, that probably would be the best, least-invasive, least-pushy way of getting him to enjoy healthy food while respecting both of your choices. Reminded me of this vid that makes me laugh about every time I see it (especially at the "wrong answer!" and then near the end). http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xU2bu1muk3I IP: Logged |

I know what you mean, I tried to eliminate beef from my diet and my parent's wouldn't even allow me to do that, but once I turn 18, I'm gonna try to go vegetarian or at least semi-vegetarian IP: Logged |

RP, You're right - he needs to make up his own mind on this. I'm always extra sensitive about this topic, because I don't want to force anything. I don't presume to tell him what to do on anything, and never have. I do make vegetarian main dishes at home, and then we make chicken or something else on the side so he can add it to the main entree on his plate. It has been working pretty well so far. There are times that I find it hard to cook the chicken myself - having never handled it before, I have a hard time bringing myself to touch it so it gets awkward using tongs, etc. Sometimes, I do find myself wishing it were easier.. but we'll see how the balancing act goes.
