So, I have been struggling with chronic bronchitis, allergies, sinusitis, a terrbible hacking cough since November. Finally most are under control, cleared, but I am left with this recurrant sore throat. Cant figure out if it is from my allergies, sinuses, or possible a blood pressure med I am on that has been known to, in rare cases, cause upper respiratory infections. I have been placed on antibiotics twice, the sore throat clears, then quickly returns. I have tried everything. From sleeping with my fans off, hydrating, advil keeps the pain at bay, allergen and allergy control, but to no avail. I am wondering if it is infact a recurring infection since antibiotics clear it. I have even considered throat cancer (my dad died of it), but it is not hard to swallow, just hurts and no swollen lymph nodes. I dont have my new insurance cards yet, and when I do, will start with my allergist. But I am now looking to homepathic, visualizations, metaphysical reasons, etc. for the root cause and cures. Any suggestions would be terribly appreciated! IP: Logged |

Cranberry juice will make it impossible for bacteria to stick and wash them away. Honey will make your throat inhabitable for bacteria. Honey found in the pyramids was still fresh. It cannot decay. And taking zinc with vitamin C will solve it long-term. Your immune system is down a bit and just needs a little boost. ------------------ "Never mentally imagine for another that which you would not want to experience for yourself, since the mental image you send out inevitably comes back to you." Elderberry syrup. You can get it at the pharmacy. http://www.herbwisdom.com/herb-elderberry.html Also, have you tried cutting out dairy completely? IP: Logged |

Ah good timing I have a hacking cough since last night. I'm feeling sick and feverish today. Staying out late can do that to me sometimes. But good to know about the cranberries! I love cranberries! Good to know I have an excuse to get some. I drank the rest of my elderberry syrup last night. And have been taking my elderberry triple strength tablets too. But now that the boy went back to the marines, I should be getting way more rest now. haha I have been taking elderberries everyday, cause I have been partying and working. Saturday I was too busy to get my elderberry fix, and on Sunday my immune system goes to sh!t. haha Also I take oj and had amazon tea and put organic honey. Today I had to elderberry tablets and some elderberry tea. Would love to hear more home remedies. Feel better hippichick! IP: Logged |

Ya know, it just dawned on me.Many old, and I do mean very old south Texans speak of local honey to cure allergies. So why not the best of both worlds? Going to get out the convertible tomorrow, drive to a little German established pre Hill Country town, called Castroville, TX and go to a local meat market and purchase some local honey!!! Am SOOOOO excited to try!!! Just got back with my cranberry juice, got the pure kind, diluted with water, just a bit, added some honey and lemon. Could not find the elderberry at the local grocer's pharmacy, but have more errands tomorrow. Thanks again...!!! terri~ IP: Logged |

Gargling with salt water helps. Also drinking honey tea. ------------------ "The snake which cannot cast its skin has to die. As well the minds which are prevented from changing their opinions; they cease to be mind." --- Friedrich Nietzsche IP: Logged |

Thanks AlmaAm DESPERATE! Not used to sore throats! Will try the gargle, what about gargling in Listerine? I wonder IF it would potentially help eliminate any lingering bacteria? terri~ IP: Logged |

I dunno about Listerine, it'll kill bacterial but it also has alcohol in it so it could make the throat worse possibly (or maybe just dry?). Not really sure hippi, let's see what the others say on it. Hope you feel better soon. ------------------ "The snake which cannot cast its skin has to die. Yep, two other great cures are gargling with salt water as mentioned above (pour lots of salt into very hot water). And fresh squeeze a fresh lemon and drink it straight. Either of these will knock out a sore throat within a day. ------------------ "Never mentally imagine for another that which you would not want to experience for yourself, since the mental image you send out inevitably comes back to you." WONDERFUL!!!The best in weeks! Keeping up the cranberry juice, honey, gargles. Minding closely my allergies, not letting them get out of control. Keeping an eye on the blood pressure since I am on only one med now, will add the possible suspect back if I need to. Thanks again!!! You all are just fabulous! IP: Logged |

I found some cranberry juice on the back porch and have been drinking it the past couple of days. I am no longer sick today, but I still have a cough. Oh and my nose is runny. And I had a can of gluten free chicken noodle soup. And it actually tasted like normal chicken noodle soup. For some reason that is good when you are sick, I think it's cause of the broth. And thanks for reminding me about the gargling Randall I haven't done that yet. IP: Logged |

Try taking some zinc also. In a day or two, you will set the health balance back.------------------ "Never mentally imagine for another that which you would not want to experience for yourself, since the mental image you send out inevitably comes back to you." Rebecca Clark IP: Logged |

Make sure when you take "honey", you are taking RAW Pure unfiltered, nutritious honey. The more local, the better for you (especially if you suffer from allergies).Don't bother with that high fructose corn syrup kind that comes in the plastic teddybear shaped squeeze bottle. That's been boiled and refined and has nothing to benefit you... No nutrients to be had there. Get good honey people. It will cure all kinds of ailments. IP: Logged |

Thanks for the reminder, T!Absolutely! And I try to get local honey that comes from the areas of Texas that the most vicious winds blow through and bring me my allergen gifts! Great point!!! IP: Logged |
