I am not having a good day today.

I am confused.
I got back from visiting my guy at the end of July and a few people have told me I look skinnier.

Well today I had a dentist apt, and after I went to a thai restaurant.
When I go up to pay the lady asks me when my baby is due....WHAT!THE!FAK?!...!!!

So I'm just like no I'm just fat.

Poor lady must have been so humiliated. Well I was too. haha

I've also been going running. Not even to get skinny. To get out of the house, and clear my head.

So I don't understand, I am kind of p!ssed off.

I also think I might of just picked an unflattering top today...I don't even want to be a skinny beanpole BUT I don't want people to think I am knocked up when I ain't! I am obviously not doing something right with my health.

You are probably bloated. There could be so many reasons for that. My best advice that I follow as well is: see what foods make you bloated/ gassy - then avoid them.

Ouch! I have always had a bit of meat on my bones and have been referred to as "big" on numerous occasions. I doubt many socialized girls want to be called that. Anyways, it sux to face judgement like that - why do people pay so much attention to women's bodies?! That's a point you to try to make if anyone says anything - good or bad. Just wear loose clothes and eat healthy and balanced for life and try to forget what anyone says.

Thanks for the feedback!

Yeah I had a manual therapist tell me that my stomach is inflamed. And told me to lay off the gluten. When I go grocery shopping I do buy all gluten free products from salads, gluten free spaghetti, tapioca pudding, to tequila. lol

The longest I've been able to do the gluten free is two weeks straight. And the manual therapist told me to really get results you got to do it for 3 weeks.

Right now I'm off work for the summer and having some technical difficulties that are being worked on for getting some money back from taxes.
So for now I just eat what ever my parents have.

My guy suggested I challenge my self more in my workouts. And go more than just every other day.

But when I'm back to work, I plan on buying gluten free meals as usual. But also I want to focus on foods that are anti inflammatory.

And wear more flattering tops...so I don't have to deal with the "are you expecting questions"....

I'd rather try those ways first anyway, before I go out and buy...how you say...spanx.

Hey Stawr

I can relate, with the looking pregnant/bloated/inflamed thing
When I eat gluten I literally look pregnant and I can not wear most of my clothes, I feel awful.
The longest stretch gluten free was 6 weeks & even not being bloated I seems to deflate a lot.
So you are on the right track, though there are many other bloating foods such as dairy.
Also, food combining is a big issue for me, eating fruit following a non fruit meal is bad news.

ETA salty foods make me retain water. Don't eat too many salty things.

Thanks! It's cool to hear other people's experiences with going gluten free.

Cool. And, it's in the over consumption of salt that leads to bloating in some people... Sea salt added to food is pretty darn good for you, but can't say the same about a canned meal or packet of crisps, for me anyway.

Gluten free- caused me to eat a lot hidden salts, like 'veggie chips'- have to be careful of marketing.

Do you like Gluten free bread Stawr? I hope I can find a good one as they are all like eating a stale cake! Lol

Also forgot the biggest one!

Sit ups don't work, they make your stomach look bigger. I know.
Unless, you commit to quite a bit of fat burning cardio. Need to burn fat off because the abs will get bigger with sit ups!
That's what I am doing mainly after three kids and a jelly belly !

Wow! Thanks, SC. I didn't know that either. Yikes. No more sit-ups for me!

Yin, lucky for me my husband is a PT... and another personal trainer at my gym said the same thing. It's like, core strengthening is good no matter what shape you are in, but if you want a flat tummy, it doesn't come easy, you have to burn the fat off if you ever want to see your abs again! Lol damn it!!!!

Ha yeah some gluten free products do not taste like food at all! I once bought "simply organic" gluten free pancakes. I decide to make it one day open the packet. AND IT SMELLED LIKE CAT NIP! I did everything I could, to get rid of the smell and taste.
Used chocolate milk (instead of white)
Cinnamon
Fudge
Marmalade Jam!

I mixed all that in there to make up for it's smell and taste...it only helped a little bit

When they where finished I put pb and poured hot fudge on them. That was the only way I could not really get that cat nip taste.
lmao
I know that totally defeats the purpose.

I wrote on my new grocery list DO NOT EVER BUY SIMPLY ORGANIC GLUTEN FREE PANCAKES EVER AGAIN. lol

Hi Stawr,

I lost weight by cutting out gluten, sugar, red meat products and a lot of green juice. But I toned my body very well with callanetics and the bar method. Callanetics is tough but works very well, I used the 1980's version.

Ohmygosh! I love Callanetics! That program works! I have the hour and a half 80s version and it's great. My only complaint is how slowly the production moves.

May I suggest fermented foods/probiotics to possibly awaken a sluggish gut? I started getting a huuuuuuuuuuuge gut seemingly out of nowhere, then I realized "Oh, when's the last time I had a proper...movement?"

I brew my own kombucha at home, and just started making my own kefir as well. They're excellent in balancing intestinal health, and a healthy colon is a clear one which will help keep your belly flat.

thanks everyone, I am seeing progress. I bought some gluten free food at the grocery store, I think that combo and running every other day has helped my progress.

I usually weigh around 138 pounds (and 5'1 by the way) And I weighed my self on Friday and the scale said 133.

My folks got rid of the scale, a long time ago so I don't weigh myself often. (part of me thinks they got rid of it cause I was sort of obsessed with weighing myself in my teens. I even put the scale in my suitcase on a family trip. haha)

But being a in my early 20's it's hard to eat gluten free all the time. Especially since I live in America. But I really try whenever I can.

My stomach still sticks out but I feel like it shrunk a bit.

To be honest, I think the whole gluten-free fad is a bunch of hoopla. I don't buy it or believe in it at all. Been there, tried it out of curiosity. It is not food. It's an impostor. It really did nothing for me. Yuck. Never, ever again.

I like real food

yeah I really stay away from the gluten free bread products, like their bagels, pancakes mixes and bread.

I have tried gluten free spaghetti, and it tasted fine though.

I focus on the gluten free things I enjoy eating like sushi, tapioca pudding, stir fry, chips with guacamole and more

last week the only thing I ate with gluten in it, it was thai food.

yeah my family tells me that I look good and look like I'm slimming down, but then on Friday I had a preschooler ask me if I was having a baby. UGH! I did wear a really tight shirt that day though...and Rome wasn't built in a day.
But that p!ssed me off since I am eating better.

With adjusting to work and school though I haven't had much time and energy to work out. Though I did start a ballet class but that is only once a week and that is way less intense than running a mile. I don't even sweat in my ballet class. Cause the teacher spends half the class talking! Ugh. haha

Maybe I am just one of those people that really needs both (eating right a lot and working out a lot) to show progress.

But I am seriously ready to resort to spanx, for days I want to wear tight shirts. And I have no idea how much I weigh since my folks got rid of the scale. Gonna have to buy one myself it looks like.

But yeah, I know I'm showing progress when I can go a month without getting asked if I'm f()cking pregnant.

But I swear to God, if someone asks me that one more time I will seriously flip a table and run away. haha

I haven't ran in two weeks plan on doing it today.

There is an article I haven't read yet. Called

"GMO alert: Eating GM wheat may destroy your liver, warn scientists"

Haven't read it yet, but plan on it.

I stumbled across some research, about how gluten free is not always the cure...since some gluten free products can be processed, dyed, etc.(which can slowly take a toll on health.) http://scdlifestyle.com/2012/04/the-toxic-truth-about-gluten-free-food-and-celiac-disease/

and while researching, it shows that vitamin D can help fight obesity.

So it looks like...nutrition....is the answer...!...Who'da thunk!?

Anyways I'd say about a third of the food I consume currently is organic. (super-hardcore Amy's fan ova here!)

I'm not the biggest fan of eggs, but I like pickled eggs...poached(especially the yellow part.) And omelets that have lots of added things to it such as veggies, meat, (and bananas actually work well too.)

Mmmmm this totally gives me an excuse to get some cod.

With all the rx planets right now I am in a throw back kind of mood.

I thought I would share an update
Everything I do and don't do makes my weight fluctuate like a ******* shape sifter.

June I was in the 130's
July onward the 140's I feel like that is too much for how short I am.
It's been an extra downer. Because I have really mastered gf eating. I will even take the bread off a sub sandwich at a party, and just eat the condiments and meat. I can go about a month now with a GF eating

There are a few factors
I'm in my 30's now.(why are the good things I do not good enough!?)
I have/had less free time to exercise.

With eating mostly gf and regular exercise I got down to 117 one day.

I was glued to a computer all day for my last day of online classes today. It's over, it's finally over.

My sister has dabbled in Paleo. I did a week of GreenChef Paleo meals and released weight like a piece of cake when I was 27. I was not exercising. Just a paleo meal once a day.

I am hoping I can start to bring exercise back into my life regularly. I have been so deprived of outlets for 3 years. I don't even know what it feels like anymore to be able to love my self in that way.

I am hoping I can ease back into it. But if I still feel challenged for that level of self love and me time. I might get into the paleo diet. But I really would have to feel up for it.
It took me so long to be able to eat gf for over 3 weeks. I know how to order food just about anywhere gf. Financial independence helps too. But in my experience 1 Paleo meal make all the difference.
