I was just thinking about these things and was curious to know how others would respond.

1) What is your sun and Venus combination (sun being your core self and Venus being connected to beauty)?

2) Do you use beauty products, make stuff at home, go without anything, or some combination thereof? Have you switched at one point in your life/changed your views? If so, why?

3) Do you use more natural beauty products (if you use them) or more name-brand/less natural products? What determines your choices? And if you break any of your rules for one product, which one is it?

4) What is your general philosophy of beauty, briefly?

5) What are your personal beauty goals for the future?

1. Capricorn Sun at the Midheaven, Venus in Aquarius, and adding Taurus Rising (rising sign determines how you "seem" to others), Taurus being ruled by Venus/PanHorus.

2. I wear makeup, but not foundation daily as I don't need it and my face can rest between performances. I wear eyeshadow, eyeliner, mascara, cheekbone highlighter, lipstick, and glitter cream on my decollete if it's showing.

3. I pay no attention to natural or not cosmetics. I've been wearing regular makeup for many an immortal year and am healthy as a horse! Natural cosmetics are usually way more boring colors, often don't wear as well, and I think the "natural" is often an excuse to charge more for lesser quality. Plus, I feel that if you worry too much about stuff like that, you create a body and psyche that are oversensitive and allergic to every little thing! I want to be fully engaged in life.

4. My beauty philosophy is: "Great Old-Hollywood Glamour," all the time. I can't get enough glam!

5.I'd like to take even better care of myself. I am not doing some of my very good habits, but keep thinking about it, which means I will!

GREAT questions, RP!!! Can't wait to read other responses.

Oh, and I have no preference as to price. I've tried every price-point of cosmetics and find things I like at every level.

I'll bite~

1 Sun Pisces, Venus 0 Deg Aries, which my Aries pulls toward Pisces so...Very, VERy au-natural. My Scorp asc will let me dress up super sexy and put makeup on, from time to time..I ALWAYS go without make up at home, often at work, and IF I do apply for work it is very subtle.

2 Like I said, very, very natural for me. I have always been this way. My friends in HS used to drive me crazy, I would have to wait hours for them to put their make up on...geezzzz.

3 I like the mineral powder foundations...I use a blusher that is a compact with many different shades so my blush brush blends. I like a soft lip gloss, IF anything, I prefer a healthy glow from the sun.

4 Beauty is within. Sexy comes from within. I have seen many big girls who are far sexier than their skinny counterparts cause they are comfortable with theirselves.

5 Well, good question as I am 50! I do not spend any money on myself but my hair. Long and shiny and lusterous, I pay $$ to have it professionally highlighted and cut. I am in a quandry now as to what I will do as I age, but my beautition told me I am greying slowly, so I plan on keeping my hair in optimal health, letting grey set in over the years, keeping length so at to pull it back in a braid, etc. I moisturize my face and dont sweat the wrinkles..

My name is "hippichick" afteralll!

I was lurking and noticed this thread. If there's something I love almost as much as talking about love and social justice, it's talking about beauty!

1) What is your sun and Venus combination (sun being your core self and Venus being connected to beauty)?

Sun in Libra, Venus in Leo (And my Venus is in my 7th house conjunct my descendent in Leo/opposite my Aquarius Ascendant)

2) Do you use beauty products, make stuff at home, go without anything, or some combination thereof? Have you switched at one point in your life/changed your views? If so, why?

I use beauty products as well as occasionally go barefaced. My skin is the focus of my beauty regimen, I like my skin to look flawless. And as a result I don't tend to wear much makeup. I never wear blush, foundation, concealer etc. I wear nude lip balm daily and lipstick/gloss only on special occasions. Daily I also wear black eyeliner and mascara to make my brown eyes glow, with eyeshadow only on special occasions.

I've always felt for the most part the same about makeup. I don't wear much and I prefer that. I really like my skin and don't want to damage it using excessive makeup products, I recently adapted mint facial masks (Organic) into my beauty regimen, it was a big step for me. I don't make anything at home, I don't have the patience.

Since my views on makeup are simple, basically wear whatever you feel works for you, they haven't really changed. It a surprise considering I have Venus in Leo, but I have a very impatient Moon in Aries. Don't have the patience or time to spend more then 10 minutes doing both hair and makeup.

3) Do you use more natural beauty products (if you use them) or more name-brand/less natural products? What determines your choices? And if you break any of your rules for one product, which one is it?

I tend to only buy organic products that are hypoallergenic and paraben-free. I always use a water-based facial wash that's oil free because I have sensitive skin. I can only use oils on my body not face. I actually use a Lavender and Chamomile organic shower gel, and sweet almond oil on my skin after the shower/bath, never on my face! Too heavy!

My decision making is just based on what I know naturally works for my skin, reviews are always interesting but I prefer to go on my own judgement and read labels carefully while hoping for the best result. I stick to my beauty product regimen and I've been using the same products for years. I get into a routine of using the same products because they're that good until I discover something better. I mean I don't have the patience to be continually testing 80,000 products on my skin. It's just too much on my body. And I honestly don't care enough with my Aries Moon to keep experimenting with beauty products.

4) What is your general philosophy of beauty, briefly?

Similar to Hippichick, my philosophy on beauty is it's skin deep therefore if you take care of yourself, the world will take note and the beauty within you will shine through. Take the time to take care of your mind, body and spirit. That's all that matters (never neglect the body). Some of the most beautiful people to me are those who truly take care of themselves, mind and body, and they have this glow and energy about them.

5) What are your personal beauty goals for the future?

I will continue to do my best to stay out of direct sunlight to minimize sun damage and balance my skin (wearing hypoallergenic sunblock). Eat well and organic, and continue to feed my mind and my soul through fruitful pursuits and just stay positive and peaceful. Everything else will fall into place. The prize will of course be aging gracefully. I'm a big believer in you get out what you put in, therefore if you take care of yourself you'll reap the rewards.

(Libra's and long threads... )

5) What are your personal beauty goals for the future?

1) Sun Virgo, Venus Leo

2) I've never been a big believer in beauty products, and find that both my hair and face do better with less interference. I have naturally thick curly hair that I have only blown dry maybe 7 times in the last decade (two of those were "straightenings" with a flat iron). I use minimal product, except anti-frizz mousse when wearing hair down (only when it needs to stay put ;D), and natural lip balm and mascara or eyeliner on a regular basis. This has been a trial and error process over the years, since I have found I touch my face a lot and any makeup, eye or otherwise, gets fidgeted/rubbed off. My hair also gets poofier the more I fuss with it, LOL> I used to wear foundation and everything when I was younger, but my skin is not a fan of even the "hypo-allergenic" stuff like Clinique. It looks fake and makes me break out.

3) I use Avalon Organics shampoo and conditioner (when I can afford it), Desert Essence shea butter lip balm, a 99% pure aloe gel for non-sticky/greasy moisturizing or to deal with sunburn, and *never* cleanse my face with soap, only warm water every day, and occasional steamy wash clothes and exfoliate with a baking soda and water paste. I also wash my hands and body with Pine Tar soap, especially during the winter dry months as my skin will crack and bleed, mostly near joints, when I wash often during that season. I break rules for hair products as I've not seen anything non-greasy for my curly hair that still controls it, hehe. I don't usually put product in my hair daily, especially when I know I'll be wearing it pulled back or up, so it's a once or twice a week at most rule break.

4) Personal beauty philosophy is less is more. The body will stay in balance if you stay away from harsh chemical-based products that dry it out to "cleanse" or "enrich" it with fake harmful additives.

5) Beauty goal is aging gracefully and taking good care to not disturb my youthful genetics. My mom and Gram didn't get fully grey hair til well into late 60's early 70's and have enjoyed smooth skin with minimal sag.

1) What is your sun and Venus combination (sun being your core self and Venus being connected to beauty)?

Aries Sun house 11
Pisces Venus house 10

2) Do you use beauty products, make stuff at home, go without anything, or some combination thereof? Have you switched at one point in your life/changed your views? If so, why?

Yes I use beauty products. Never made my own, but I've considered making my own liquid foundation. Oh yes I go without a lot of things most of the time:eye liner, lipstick lip gloss...those things are only sometimes. Oh yeah if I am wearing a lot of black I feel like my face is washed out with out black eyeliner and mascara. But now I'm less strict, and at the least must have black mascara on, only if I am really going out somewhere and wearing black, then I must have the black eyeliner on.

3) Do you use more natural beauty products (if you use them) or more name-brand/less natural products? What determines your choices? And if you break any of your rules for one product, which one is it?

Well almost all of my hygiene products are natural, but my make up...not so much. I do have some natural make up though like bare minerals powders, and a lipstick, I have a hemp lipstick. And some natural lip liner that where in a clearance bin at whole foods. Well lately I just do the best I can. Slowly starting to change my lifestyle. We are exposed to so many toxic things, in the air, water, food, products. Oh yes I've been a make-up junkie since 2010! Always trying different looks going on make up sprees! Well some people I hang out with made some very good points about how people wear make up and use products to be pretty. But it can damage your how you say?...au natural looks. Also this video really spoke to me, and has influenced me too. haha (WARNING IT'S BLUNT!) http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rF-lAsHI6d8
I'm not gonna stop wearing make up though. That would just be boring to always look the same. I like to be unpredictable, and keep people on their toes. mwahaha. But with realizing the damage it can do, I try my best to be as natural as possible. But I'm not going to trow my toxic make up out the window I'm gonna get my money's worth and use it every so often until its gone.

4) What is your general philosophy of beauty, briefly?

Treat your self whenever you can. Most women(including me) need to give them self a confidence boost. Try a new lip stick color, give your self a day at the spa, splurge on some nice clothing. Never tell your self you are not worthy enough if it will make you feel good about your self. Express your self! And the people who matter most can accept you with or with our make up.

5) What are your personal beauty goals for the future?

To be more natural with beauty, and be able to do more styles with my hair. And maybe not take so long to get ready. haha

1) What is your sun and Venus combination
Both Leo in the 8th

2) Do you use beauty products, make stuff at home, go without anything, or some combination thereof? Have you switched at one point in your life/changed your views? If so, why?
Yes I use beauty products.
I have made body lotions, hair spritz and moisturizers, etc from certain fruit/nut oils and butters and essential oils, or distilled water.
I used to study the chemical compositions of such products heavily, much like yourself but lost interest over time. I like the idea of natural, organic, SLS-free, paraben free stuff when I can afford it. I started really caring about this stuff when I stopping chemically treating my hair. That's when I made the gradual switch from "bad" products to "natural".
I don't care about the name brand as much as price and what's in the product. I hate certain store lotions, body wash, perfume, shampoos not because they tend to be cheap, but they just do not work for me. But maybe it is the whole placebo thing. I use brands such as Aubrey Organics, Giovanni, or Shea-moisture for hair. All run from 7.99-16.00 bucks depending on the conditioner or shampoo and the store, yet it's worth every penny because I don't have to buy any for 2 or more years. And they work better. Actually, I think that hair products are the only beauty product I splurge on. Skin products next, then make-up last. When it comes to skin, I use Avon skin wash and though it is a whopping 22 bucks for the entire moisturizer and wash set, but it has lasted forever. Otherwise I do simple stuff. Shea or Cocoa butter for body. Scrub face with micro-demabrasion sponge. Coconut oil for dry hair. I hate make-up, but still wear it occasionally when I go to an event or interview. And it is mostly miscellaneous lipsticks or mascara sticks my friends let me have. I only ever purchased eye liners. Otherwise, my face is normally bare. Lipstick of any kind is drying, so I avoid it if I can.

3) See above

4) What is your general philosophy of beauty, briefly?
We are all going to be old and ugly one day. It's no contest, we don't choose how we look but yes, we can make ourselves look presentable.

5) What are your personal beauty goals for the future?
Uh.... grow my hair longer? But that's not so much a goal as hair will grow regardless. Just taking care of myself, I suppose. Keeping my regimen simple.

My sun & venus are Libra. However, I think both Sag (several planets) and Leo (ascendant) affect me as well.

I'm usually minimalist and sometimes go without anything. In part that's because I'm athletic in hot and often humid areas and find it's just not worth it unless there's a specific goal. I tend to use the most makeup on Halloween as part of a disguise and this is when I'm most likely to use commercial products (heck, I've even gotten prescriptions for contacts, which cost, just to change my eye color as part of my costume).

When I was younger I did play with makeup a little, then got glam about it as a means to show some individuality (this is when Sag & Leo really asserted themselves for me), and then on request to look more feminine which was fun for awhile, but eventually I returned to my default minimalist state.

Normally I use natural beauty products, often making them myself because I like the feeling of independence, I trust it more than I do factory made cosmetics (especially as I worry about long term effects of using such cosmetics), I believe it avoids contributing to a culture that is cruel to animals, and prevents putting toxics into the drain (sure it's insignificant by itself, but when you got hundreds of millions to billions flushing the stuff daily then it builds up...)

Briefly, my beauty philosophy is "different strokes for different folks." What's beautiful for one won't be for another. If you have freckles (like I do) then some people will consider it a flaw, others a bonus, and others won't even notice them. And beauty is more than skin deep in my book.

An important thing to keep in mind is the fashion industry is ultimately snake oil who try to make you feel very insecure and that only their product can save you, and this causes a lot of insanity among females...and interesting enough since the fashion industry started targeting men as well they've been reporting similar eating disorders and the like as well which before had been nearly unheard of.

My mom used to be a professional model, btw. She told me that when she posed she often couldn't move at all, they'd have to apply much of their makeup on her (even if she was modeling for clothes) while she remained mostly still and after a professional (sometimes multiple professionals) were done putting on all their glamor & glitter THEN they'd put a dab of whatever cosmetic they were advertising or otherwise displaying the product and give the impression that the product would make you look just as beautiful yourself (as my mom said, "Only if you had a team of professionals and didn't plan on moving much"). And since then they've added photoshopping as well (as Miley Cyrus said in her book Miles to Go, don't feel bad if you don't look good as her, SHE doesn't look as good as her, it's ultimately special effects).

As for my own personal goals, I can't say I have any. However, I used to be careful not to build up muscle as I lifted weights (and did pull ups, etc), I just wanted to remained healthy, toned, and fit enough to take care of myself, be healthy, and not hurt myself as I engage in my other athletic hobbies, but over the years I slowly HAVE muscled up just a little (and when I do pull ups or use weights you can really see it) but I was relieved when some said it looks good and I'm thinking of bulking up just a bit more...not rippling (men and women both who just bulge everywhere with muscles make me cringe and I don't want to look like that) but maybe add another 5-10 pounds, hopefully looking like a woman I used to know who I thought was beautiful who had well-defined (but not rippling) muscles. Though just to be clear, muscle is a lot more compact than normal body fat, so I could gain 10 pounds and still drop a size, and so this "goal" (really more of not worrying so much if it happens as I used to than I'm trying to make it happen) appeals to my Sag, Leo, AND Libra energies.

I haz to cheat here and let a former self answer:

1) What is your sun and Venus combination (sun being your core self and Venus being connected to beauty)?

Sun-Libra / Venus-Pisces / ASC Scorpio

2) Do you use beauty products, make stuff at home, go without anything, or some combination thereof? Have you switched at one point in your life/changed your views? If so, why?

I preferred to use the bare minimum if nothing at all, except for my eyes of which were naturally very sharp in appearance and so I preferred to make them a little more soft looking as not to terrify people lol, so watery shading was a plus.

I hated lipstick, foundation, most makeup really

3) Do you use more natural beauty products (if you use them) or more name-brand/less natural products? What determines your choices? And if you break any of your rules for one product, which one is it?

Natural if possible but I really didn't care so much -Shrugs-

4) What is your general philosophy of beauty, briefly?

Play to your strengths, flaws of the body can be easily covered with the right outfit (if such bothers you) and a vibrant intellect is far more beautiful than even the most elaborate makeup-look.

5) What are your personal beauty goals for the future?

Hrrmmm... Id like to have may hair down to my waist, dyed Jet Black, oh wait... I died lol!
