So, as per my continuous research to save my troubled liver, I disovered that fructose and high fructose corn syrup metabolize in the liver nearly exactly as alcohol does!!!

The heavy seems to be fructose as 100% is metabolized in the liver while alcohol shares 10% with the gut and 10% with the brain.

I was astonished...I still cant find out, gram per gram, ounce per ounce what is their "is to" factor. Like one glass of wine = ?? amount of fructose.

I experienced the general sugar demise yesterday.

I have been off all sugars, paying special attention to fructose,ON low carbs, detox herbs and supplements, no advil, tylenol, etc.

I have maintained wine, yea I know so bad for the liver, coming off meds, I enjoy my glass of wine and an herbal stess tab to relax..and being off all other nasties that hurt the liver, I will eventually give it up too.

Anyway, for nearly 2 weeks, this awesome diet, sparingly alcohol them comes my birthday. Yes I over-indulged, but still maintained NO fructose. I had wine and a coupla beers and nachos out Sunday night and woke up Monday morning CRAVING a soda/pop! Which I have also give up due to the fructose.

Well, I felt so darn terrbile, I had a nice rice dish my daughter prepared for me (carbs=sugar, but not fructose) and I went and bought a diet 7up.

Tada!!!

Feeling better, lots better!

The moral of the story~ my body had become used to no sugar, especially fructose. Then I go and over indulge in alcohol which sent my insulin levels in my body catywonkas, up and down, up and down as the birthday night progressed...the next morning, my body craved sugar to correct itself. And I let it do that, with carbs from the rice and a diet 7up.

The body is such an amazing thing.

I should know better as a nurse, but an ICU nurse tends to focus on the pathology of the moment and not the long run...as I did with my sugar incident. sigh...

Learning....

All in all, bware of fructose....

The patrons of Earth are killing themselves with it~

blessins!

Thank you
Yes, we have done our best to avoid fructose and high fructose corn syrup,
for over 10 years to date.
I highly suspect the infusing just about everything with it for decades;
is the main reason for so many "new" diabetics.
Rice has also been a thing that will push me into over 300 blood sugar.
So I avoid it usually.
Sigh;
love rice though.
Cinnamon is supposed to help lower blood sugar;
however;
WARNING!
I was taking the cinnamon capsules;
and the next thing I know is that I was having bad reflux/vomiting;
(not because of the cinnamon)
that the cinnamon came up and severely burned my esophagus and throat and mouth.
Soooooooo;
the past week have been hurting bad with bloody peeling swollen mouth/throat/lips;
and horrible chest pain from the esophageal
burns.

Fructose is only bad if you consume high levels of it. Same with alcohol in a way, but I guess alcohol is also bad because addictive. IMO, if we listen to our body we can feel how much fructose is too much for us. Sugar (any sugar, honey is the same also) btw is part glucose and part fructose.
