Has anyone had gestational diabetes? I'm fit, into weight training, very healthy but I have a history of diabetes in my family and relatives who had GD during their pregnancys. It just sucks :/ Any healthy sugar free recipes? I love that I can still have sweet potatoes. The RD said I can eat all meats, natural nut butters, veggies, fruit, good fats. IP: Logged |

You're pregnant?.... Congratulations, CAY!I had GD with my pregnancies.... It's 30 years later now, and my doctor recently told me I am "clear" of ANY Diabetes. My midwife had told me that some Bodies "react" to being 'pregnant'.... And one of those reactions is that the Body can dump sugar into the urine. Even with 'that' being known, I STILL had to take precautions and go on a strict diabetes-food watch during my pregnancies BECAUSE they really "can't be sure" if your baby IS in a 'sugar bath' or not. Don't ACTUALLY know if it's "only" your body throwing off sugars into the urine. I swear... I think she thought I 'cheated' on my diet (I hated that!). I was ACTUALLY very self-disciplined for my baby's healthy sake. What I observed at the end was that my sugar levels in urine looked "higher" whenever I had drunk a BIG glass of MILK before getting into my car and driving there for my check-up! haha! I was NOT "splurging" on sugar from those big Pieces of Cake, and Apple Pies!! IP: Logged |
