I've recently come up with quite a nice collection of essential oils and have become completely addicted to collecting them.

What are your favorite essential oils and what do you use them for? I like to put a few drops in a spray bottle with water and spray it over my sheets and clothes (peppermint lemon and eucalyptus if I want to feel energized or lavender and geranium if i'm trying to relax). I'll add some to my dr.bronners that I wash my hair with (cypress makes my hair so soft), and I add some to baby oil that I use after a shower as well as on my face. I also use different blends of them in my homemade deodorant with coconut oil and baking soda, some of my favorite to use have been tea tree, lavender, juniper berry, calendula and neroli.

I just love experimenting with them and playing around with the different scents and blends. If any of you have any EO blend recipes you absolutely love you must tell me!

Some of the EO's I have in my collection now:

Tea Tree
Lavender
Lemongrass
Sweet Orange
Jupiter Berry
Cinnamon Cassia
Peppermint
Eucalyptus
Pink Grapefruit
Lemon 5 Fold
Rosemary
Pine
Cypress
Calendula
Neroli
Ylang Ylang
Geranium
Black Pepper
Bergamot

Some EOs I have yet to try but would love to are Blue Tansy, Myrrh, Helichrysum, Blue Lotus Absolute, Clary Sage, ALL OF THEM really. I wish I had friends that were into EO's so we could share and trade them and come up with blends together ^___^

The only one I have experience with is peppermint oil. I put it on when I have any kinds of aches on my body. Can also be used to repel bugs.

I also bought rosemary oil. Putting that in hair will prevent you from getting lice if you know its going around.

Ah, I love experimenting with EOs!

One favorite combination for me is Lavender, Clary Sage, and Lemon.

Oh my gosh, it's so calming for me, and it just smells fresh and clean. It helps me to feel really centered and calm.

I love Bergamot, but I often just use that by itself.

Frankincense and Sandalwood smell really nice together as well, but Sandalwood EO is horribly expensive right now. But it also only takes a tiny bit of Sandalwood, because it's so strong (and the scent stays for a long time).

I'll try to think of some more, but those are often my favorites.

Sometimes I write them down, and sometimes I don't (although I should).

Oh, for my husband (and if I just feel like it) I mix Cedar and Lemon, maybe with a small amount of Lavender. Ahh, that smells so good!

I also use EOs and baking soda as a carpet freshener before I vacuum. It makes the house smell really nice!

OOoh, youve convinced me to buy some clary sage, I have been contemplating on that one since I've never gotten a chance to smell it.
Would you say cedarwood is similar to sandalwood in smell? I am about to purchase some rosewood and cedarwood, sandalwood is definitely expensive x__x

The baking soda + EO's for the carpet sounds like a great idea i'll have to try that one.

You can injest the Sacred Frankincense essential oil (the new one) to heal tumors and other ailments. Of course check with a holistic healer for the proper dosage and applications. I love the smell of it, plus Palo Santo oil, bergamot, lavender, and I use a grounding oil on the bottoms of my feet which is helpful

Awesome!
Sorry I didn't see your response until now.

I think that Sandalwood, Cedar, and Rosewood all have very distinct smells. I personally don't use Rosewood very often, for some reason.

You could always try Cedar with other scents like Frankincense, and see if it smells good (that's the fun part, right?!).

There's something that I like to mix Ylang Ylang with also, but now I've forgotten which one I do that with. It smells absolutely heavenly, though.

I'll dig through my EOs tonight and try to recall what that particular blend was.

I love sandalwood. It makes me calm and happy.

I also love love love patchouli but I know a lot of people hate it so I don't really wear it anymore. It makes me feel earthy, mysterious and sexy.

Yeah, I love patchouli as well. For similar reasons, I also don't wear it, haha.

But I do mix it with other fragrances sometimes, and wear that instead.

I haven't had any for a while, so I forget what I mixed it with.

I've also noticed that patchouli can go bad pretty easily if it's not stored properly in a cool, dry place. And then it just smells gross.

But yeah...patchouli does smell lovely, imo.

Attar of Roses

I have a personal Blend I make that includes Sandalwood.

I have always wanted to grow this Rose. I tried to when I lived up in the higher elevations, and it was the most unhappy of campers.

Recently it occurred to me that my current climate was very warm and welcoming to the needs of this Rose, so I ordered one.

Every day I pass by it, it looks happier and happier, so nice and glowing.

Cleopatra was said to favour this Rose.

Rose Otto
An intense, immensely rich, floral oil. Rose otto is one of the oldest and best known of all the essential oils. Rose otto has a powerful effect on the emotions and the spirit, bringing harmony and peace while dispelling fear and tension. It's used in all types of perfumes to lend beauty and depth to the aroma. A drop or two in a massage, facial or bath oil creates a luxurious, soothing experience. The oil is also used in skin creams, powders and lotions.

Price is a bit hefty, though.

Aura Cacia Otto

Guess if I grew an acre or two...

Ellyn

Hmmm, that must be why i've never liked it. I've only had a chance to smell it in a tester at stores like whole foods, and the scent was nothing nice and I suspected it might have gone bad.

My sister has a fragrance oil warmer that she bought at bath and body works! I cat sat at her house and put my lavender and rosemary oil on it to clear my sinuses. I started blowing my nose like crazy so I think it worked. I kind of want a fragrance oil warmer now.

I also bought eucalyptus oil grocery shopping at whole foods. Haven't used it for anything yet.
The whole foods brand was 9 buck and the Aura Cacia brand was 26 bucks! I wonder why???

I went to my local health store this weekend and I could not believe my eyes. A 16 oz bottle of peppermint oil. The "now" brand.

yeah it costs around 50 bucks too! I could make that that a decade if the oil would allow it.

The only one that big that I have ever seen was when I worked in a Metaphysical Book Store, and I was filling the small vials for sale.

(I smelled Wonderful for Days!)

The largest I own is Four Ounces, it is Lemon Grass, my Son's Favourite. It is Aura Cacia, they are Very Good Oils.

I have heard that Frontier is the same ones, only wholesale.

Have never been in a whole foods, the Local Ones always got my business whenever I was in Santa Cruz.

They're Really Cool!

I do have a couple of One Ounce Peppermint Oils, I use them for my Peppermint Creme. It's Wonderful Stuff!

Whole foods seems to have (almost)all my eccentric needs. So I've been shopping there the most lately. Organic food, supplements, and the more natural hygiene products.

I do kind of miss shopping at a regular grocery store sometimes. I can't help but think why can't whole foods do coupons and bottle returns? Heck even the local health food stores in the area do punch cards if you spend over 50 bucks.
I just miss the satisfaction of "I saved 12 bucks today"

Luckily other stores are starting to catch up. About a month ago I noticed that Mejers sells organic coconut oil now. Kroger has a section of organic and more natural hygiene products too. People at Kroger even get point cards to save money.

My sister was telling me that she notices that she saves the most money shopping at Trader Joe's. That's interesting, but I don't think they quite fit all of my "eccentric needs."

I eventually want to reward my self with a handful of essential oils when it's been so many months that I quit smoking. And I decided that I will go on this EO spree at my local health food store, rather than whole foods. It's nice to support local, and I will get to use my punching card.

Yeah, I shop Trader Joe's sometimes, we do have that one.

I have a collection of their reusable bags. I actually remember them before I reach the counter most of the time.

Crap, hate when I forget.

They don't have much in the way of Herbals, though.

Great Nut Selection!

Quinoa, things like that. Oh, Bread. They have Great Bread.

Good to know about the bread. I'm experimenting how I feel when I have organic bread. So far my gut feels better, than w/ gmo bread.

I love trader Joes jerky, fudge, and they are also one of the few places around here that have pineapple juice. Their pre made salads are da bomb.
My mom shops there sometimes and gets organic jelly.

Yeah I don't remember TJ having EO. That would be cool if they did.
