I use aloe vera and coconut oil. They're really good for my skin although I don't know about their effectiveness in treating sun damage skin.

I use the aloe gel as a moisturizer and drink the juice (could be bought in health food stores or you can make them) or you can eat the gel.

I prepare mine like this:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CPjUHfQheX4

Cut them into chunks and eat them with syrups.

Some people I know are sensitive to aloe. So yeah be careful.

Skin regenerates in 27 days, so the damage is reversible.

Tuxedo meow! something that really really helped my skin a lot (though not damaged but scarred) are TCA peels. They are super expensive at the dermatologist 800-1000$ for one peel and you need a few treatments, but I buy mine of this website: http://makeupartistschoice.blogspot.ca/

there are testimonials with photos and though I never took pics of my skin because I feel embarassed, the improvement is amazing! check it out, but please read about it. This is a pretty serious peel start with 12.5% and read about it a lot as you can cause damage if not used correctly (it is an acid...). If you follow the steps though you will get good results!!!!

I would suggest to call their helpline and speak with a rep who can recommend products. They also have samples so perhaps you can try some!! Amazing brand that uses quality ingredients. I do not work for them hahah it's sheer genuine praise for products that have greatly helped my skin. There are lots of reviews online too, so you can see for yourself that people really see a change!

good luck!

oh yeah some people are sensitive to coconut oil on their face.

I use coconut oil in my homemade sun block. I should of wrote down the recipe. Works pretty good, but makes my face shinny. Mine is spf 17. I'm olive skin, but if it's summer and I'm out in the sun a very long time my nose gets a little burned.

And aloe too!

I'm listening to a podcast right now that says lavender oil is good for treating burns. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=15GZ0db1Nr8

and here is a link of more EOs that are good at treating burns. http://www.experience-essential-oils.com/home-remedies-for-sunburn.html

That is wonderful of you.

Don't mean to change the topic, but coconut oil is very good to take orally for the prevention of memory loss.

I love coconut oil. I use organic, cold pressed coconut everyday on my face, my whole body actually. I mix it as well as a little bit of vitamin e oil for my face. My skin has never looked better.

I have pretty sensitive skin and whenever I use anything heavily perfumed I break out. Coconut oil does the trick and helps clear the breakouts.

I even drink it. I mix it in my coffee.

Coconut oil is very, very good for you. So many healing benefits. Make sure you use organic. It's the real deal, no added preservatives, and it's pure coconut. Sometimes they sneak things in those that they claim to be "virgin". Read the ingredients and make sure it's just coconut if you can't find organic.

Are you asking about Bentonite Clay?? I've been using it probably 3 times a week (20 minutes-1 hour each time) for several months.
I noticed a change immediately but it gets better and better! Now when I use it I swear my skin is to tight it looks like I had a facelift for several hours, my skin looks like a child and the result is lasting longer and longer each time. Every couple weeks I leave it on for a few hours or more.
Ppl are asking what I'm doing because I'm looking so much younger. I have not used it yet but I'm sure if you used coconut oil as the moisturizer it'd be simply amazing results!!

If so.....

What is Bentonite Clay?
Prospectors looking for gold discovered Bentonite Clay in the early 1900’s. They found that use of the product brought a fresh, supple look to rough, exposed skin, common in their trade.

With no artificial color, fragrance or preservative, this product consists of natural elements,* including a naturally-occurring sloughing agent which helps buff away dead surface flakes, giving skin a polished glow. Because of its significant “drawing” aspect, circulation is stimulated promoting increased amounts of oxygen and nutrients beneath the skin’s surface, leaving a refreshed, renewed appearance.
*Includes elements fundamental to extraordinary skin care such as silica, calcium, magnesium, potassium and iron.
Negatively Charged Clay?
INDEED! And it’s why Bentonite Clay is so effective. It has an innate negative charge, which leads to powerful adsorption (physical attachment) of positively charged substances.
Negative Attracts Positive!
Since most toxins such as bacteria, viruses, fungi and pesticides (even environmental and chemical waste) carry a positive charge, the value of bentonite clay as a cleanser is tremendous. Montmorillonite (pronounced “mont-mor-ill-o-nite”), has the ability to adsorb about 40 times its own weight in toxins.
The bentonite’s negative attraction for positive particles is a physical process only (electro-magnetism), and has no chemical aspect. It does not interact with body cells or tissues. This means that it is a safe and clean mineral which can be used for a wide range of applications. In fact, Bentonite Clay is included on the FDA’s famous “GRASS” list: “Generally Recognized as Safe.”
Product Summary

Bentonite Clay is a montmorillonite* clay which comes from weathered volcanic ash. In its hydrated state the clay, with a texture like whipped mousse, swells and is stretched open like a highly porous sponge, creating an enormous number of open spaces. Toxins (heavy metals, free radicals, pesticides) are first “adsorbed,” or physically attached, to the extensive surface area by electrical attraction. Then they are “absorbed,” or trapped, in these open spaces and carried away.
Our clay pulls impurities from your skin.
Clay molecules carry a negative electrical charge while most toxins carry a positive charge. These positively charged ions are attracted to the negatively charged surfaces of the clay molecules. The clay molecule now holds onto the positive ion which can be washed away with the clay.

Directions on use:
Apply by patting a layer of clay onto skin surface, thick enough so that the skin is not visible through the product. Skin will feel very tight as the product dries; allow it to dry completely, then wash off with warm or cool water.
Follow with your favorite moisturizer, if desired. The clay is effective as long as it is moist. To extend effectiveness, cover clay with a single layer of plastic wrap. Cut plastic wrap to fit areas of clay application. When used on face, do not cover eyes, nose or mouth with plastic wrap. Use this product as often as you wish for a toned, naturally radiant look. Washes out of even delicate fabrics.

Lots of good info here.
My skin is so damaged from sun the damage is layers deep and is NOT renewed in a short time.

Coconut oil is lovely to eat and use ! I love it.

Betonite clay mixed with apple cider vinegar for face masks is good, too. Have any of you used the apple cider vinegar with the clay?
