So I have been doing some research on Candida overgrowth symptoms and what diet to follow to first eliminate and then keep candida at bay, and it seems to me that being a fruitarian is in direct opposition to healing this dis-ease? I mean for the first 3 weeks most sites say to not eat ANY fruit at all to eliminate candida and then when reintroducing fruit to only eat a couple of the low glycemic fruit. But in Star Signs Linda talks about fruitarianism being the true diet for humans. I was eating a lot of fruit, mainly as my first meal and following fruit/food combining charts as well, at first I felt great but the more fruit I introduced the more "slowed" down I began to feel if that makes any sense. Another issue regarding trying to control Candida overgrowth is being a vegetarian! It basically cuts out EVERYTHING except for meat and veggies and when one doesn't eat meat, or is a vegan this leaves very few options for what could be on the menu! I'm trying to wrap my brain around it so I can prepare myself for trying a Candida clearing diet but its a little overwhelming.

Any thoughts and opinions on candida overgrowth vs being fruitarian as well as diet for clearing candida when you are vegan/vegetarian would be greatly appreciated! As well as any personal experiences on overcoming candida overgrowth even if one is a meat eater.

Thank you

Raw food is OK for you, even with candida imo. HOWEVER, it should be more veggies but ever fruit within the CONTEXT of a raw diet, though.

Candida is more related to immune fuction. It could also be an imbalance in gut bacteria (especially caused by antibiotics). Probiotics should help.

Thanks for the responses everyone!

I'm particularly interested and confused by the fact that the candida clearing diet is in direct opposition to being fruitarian? Like you are not supposed to eat any fruit for at least 3 weeks on the candida clearing diet, and when reintroducing fruit only supposed to eat 1 or 2 per day. So how is it possible to be fruitarian and keep candida at bay? very confusing. I wonder if being fruitarian is even really possible sometimes? My friend went fruitarian for a month and had to quit because... haha she said she accidentally shat herself! Haha I hope she wouldn't care that I posted that.

The recommendations for candida clearing also say not to eat beans, grains, or starchy veggies including carrots, beets, potatoes, so it really leaves not much to be eaten if one is vegetarian/vegan as well!

I had my appt with the naturopath and she did not test for candida or anything... she said the way she likes to approach it is to integrate the whole system back to proper balance as opposed to just trying to "kill" off the disease because she said the merely trying to kill it off could just allow it arise again but if one works on integrating the whole system to balance than it can't live in the first place. So I dunno if I actually have it or not, she started me on a Biotherapautic drainage remedy with Unda drops, I had never heard of them before but I hope they help! She also wants me to get my thyroid tested which I agree I probably should as I have considered it to possibly be part of the issue through past research.

I used to have problems with yeast and dry skin on feet and fungus on nails. I also used to eat A.L.O.T. of fruit, everyday. I did plenty of research and most people said it can't possibly have anything to do with sugars in fruit but I haven't eaten same amount, or even close to, for over a year and all my symptoms are gone. I guess I am just sensitive to all kinds of sugar.

I now don't drink wine, eat candy, drink soda, pasta or white bread or anything fast food. I just eat home cooked food and feel good!

Thanks for sharing the personal experience charlie!

I also have had some issues with yeast on skin (tinea versicolor, not too bad and I seem to have conquered it), nail/cuticle issues and other skin issues. I eat pretty healthy now, and I also no longer drink caffeine of any kind, nor pop, candy, junk food, alcohol, very little white flour and am vegetarian but I do indulge in dark organic chocolate. However the more healthy I eat and the more fruit I was eating the worse my skin seemed to get! Some say this can be detox symptoms but since I have cut back the fruit/green smoothies my skin is getting seems to be getting better. It's very confusing. I drink lots of herb teas too, 2-3 a day.

Have been using diluted apple cider vinegar, and coconut oil in the bath (as well as eating) and both seem to help. Everything I use/eat is organic as well! And taking some vitamins/supplements/herbs. But I still have some issues

I think greens and fruit help the body to detox, and that is usually through the skin.

Thanks elixir for that video! Very interesting stuff! It's so funny how the Candida clearing diets says no fruit, I was having such a hard time trying to wrap my head around this in comparison to being fruitarian, seemed so strange. I have a herbal/health books that also talks about how great fruit/ fruit juice fasts are and how healing and great for the digestive system they are so it just seemed so weird how all the Candida clearing diets on the internet say NO fruit. I wonder if this is dis-info or what is going on. I think I do believe in fruit/food combing charts though...

Anyway thinking about going on a "banana island" since I watched that video haha I just love that term. Makes it sound so fun and like I'm going on an awesome tropical trip. A fruit trip! Well if there is one kind of fast I could do I think this is it.... as many bananas I can eat for as long as I can... I'm bananas for bananas! One of the reasons I was having such a hard time thinking of the other Candida clearing diets, I don't know how to go without my banana in the morning! It's the first thing I eat, usually 2. And I just discovered banana ice cream, pretty amazing stuff for vegans, in fact I'm gonna head over to Quirky Cuisine and make a thread about it right now! Wow I sure ramble a lot...

I love banana ice cream, especially since I have sensitivity to milk. You can add cinammon or chocolate and it is delicious!
