"Guinea worm disease is set to become the second human disease in history, after smallpox, to be eradicated. It will be the first parasitic disease to be eradicated and the first disease to be eradicated without the use of a vaccine or medicine."

taken from the Jimmy Carter Center web site: http://www.cartercenter.org/health/guinea_worm/index.html

Does anyone personally know of this work being done? It sounds like a wonderful humanitarian effort to help people become healthy without creating a dependency on medicines.

The work of the Carter Center clearly shows what one person, two people, a group and what a networked tribe of Others can do--
personal contact and care of JUST one individual soul can make the difference to the Many in their surrounds. No one should ever be left out.

Yes, their efforts are helping to eliminate, and even totally eradicate a number of diseases-- not only diseases like found in the physical realms {which is impacted constantly by emotional-mental}, but they reach out to settle the discords in parts of the world, and against corruption in govt concerning voting process. I am most-moved by the work they've done towards the saving of women -- and educating people about religious misunderstandings.

My own personal biggest "take-away" is the sense of direct-involvement with a Global Community (the 'Carter Conversations' via internet), and the processes of team leadership.

When people are willing to share and to care about others enough in a way that mobilizes people to action, then THAT's a way of bringing more Love and more Peace into this world.

We are inter-dependent: what happens to the one, has an impact on others.

Need to apply care that you leave NO one behind. (The example set by one guinea worm project: they went door-to-door to ensure that every not-only had the practical-thing needed, but they made sure there was the understanding of HOW to use it or install properly.)

When everyone cares enough about the Other, then together WE can achieve amazing humanitarian goals--- LIKE, the elimination and even eradication of certain diseases from the face of the earth.

You know what the core "medicine" was in each and every case? That thing that heals all manners of wounds... Love, and that Love Put Into Action.

They're finding a way to re-purpose viruses now! Watched two news programs on it. Polio is one of the viruses being used to cure a certain type of cancer of the brain.

I would much rather read about these stories than about big pharma and the insurance companies conspiring to create illness-causing vaccines in children in order to ensure their profits in years to come.

^ hey! you know it, PlutoSurvivor!

I got Carter Center email this morning... Announcement for the next Conversations At The Carter Center (on free webcast, internet).

Here's what it said (quoting):

"Simple Measures, Big Results"
Thursday, April 9, 2015, 7-8 p.m. EDT

Join us to learn about the Carter Center's groundbreaking work to eliminate blinding trachoma from countries across Africa. Kelly Callahan, director of the Center's Trachoma Control Program, will be joined by Jim Ervin, past international president of the Lions Clubs International Association, a key supporter of the Center's efforts to prevent disease for more than two decades.

This conversation will include exclusive footage from a new documentary showing how the Center works with local communities and partners in the field to fight the disease.

Here's The Link to 'whatever' their Current Topic is about:

^ That was the last 'Conversation at the Carter Center' for the 2014/2015 season.

They will start again in September for the 2015/2016 year.

It's so inspiring to listen to how to take something extremely pratical, and turn it into a reality for so many.

They like to take preventive measures as well as finding and applying simple cures.

Most people say Jimmy Carter is our greatest ex-president. No other has accomplished so much after leaving office. Do you agree?

I'm not knowledgeable about all those political government statistics, PlutoSurvivor... so I can't answer your opinion question that asks to compare one ex-president's accomplishment to another.

But what I do see, is a man of Honor, a man who couples actions with thoughts, and a man who's Heart is after the things of Christ.

He and his wife Rosalynn continue to prove, even actively in very advanced age, that there's still something more to do!

Never give up Hope that you can make even the smallest Difference... Each one counts, no matter how invisible. Each one involved feels something as a result of that work! What was once not-possible to some, becomes tangible hope to many as a result.

One by one, becomes a sum... and those sums create ripple effects of mercy, finding solutions for many impoverished and afflicted.

Thank you to the Carters who continue to live out their personal beliefs, acting as God's Servants, and Stewards who continue to bring Hope, Peace, and Comfort...

May God bring them Good Health, and lengthen their days with us here on the Earth.

It's always Good News (def of the word 'gospel') when you find people being Good Neighbors, who contribute to the WHOLE of society through doing their small part.
