i am crying while writing this, i really don't know what to do anymore

i just came back from a shower, and i didnt lose 50-100 strands of hair like its normal and im not freaking out because of 200 either (those are good days for me), but i lost around 500+

and this isnt new......my hair falls like this every time i wash it

500.....

the shower got so clogged at a point that i pulled out a huge ball of hair and i put it awway. 5 minutes later when i finished i had yet another one, but it wasnt so dense (thank god), still a lot of hair was there.

so now.. i was sitting with those two big balls of hair on the sink and i was trying so hard not to break down

i picked up the bigger ball of hair with one hand and i started getting one strand of hair after another with the other hand and i kept counting. 15 minutes later i was at around 300 and i still had a lot of hair to count. i kept going and in 20 minutes i had 472 stands of hair in the first ball, the other one probably had 100-200 because it was big also.

i've been at several dermatologists, they recommended me all kinds of products. nothing worked.
i switched so many shampoos.
i had and have high quality hair masks that worked ok the first days then my hair went nuts again.
i did natural hair masks out of castor oil/egg/argan oil. when i washed it off it fell worse than before and it didnt work.
i take high quality vitamins, nothing (and the pricey ones, 80-90 LEI in my country that is a lot).
i had blood tests done not long ago and everything is alright, my thyroid is ok, my hormones are ok.
i dont have skin issues.
i quit blow drying my hair.
didnt dye my hair.
these days i got goat milk based shampoo (that is amazing and worked ok the first 2 times i applied it), then it falls again like this.
i cut my hair 3 months ago, i had it very long but the thinness bothered me and i cut it all by myself frustrated. its shoulder length now and the massive hair loss problem is still here and worse.
i drink lots of water, i always have a bottle of water near me.
its not genetic, no one from my family is like this
im not depressed or stressed, even if i get the blues sometimes
changed water type, nothing

did i forget? I am only 16....

the thing with my hair is, that its an uncommon type. most girls have thick hair or thin but that is dry at touch and like .....hair.
my hair type is extremely soft, silky at touch, VERY thin. this is genetics tho, i was born with it like this. everyone that touches my hair says that they want it because its literally...so soft and silky.

i have holes in the front of my head on the sides. i always need to tuck my front hair behind my ears because if i leave it, there are several holes through my hair

i dont know what to do anymore.. i am very open to the spiritual side of illness (yes, we cause/karma causes our own illnesses, i know i know...).... but i dont know whats going on with this

im literally seeing myself soon shaving all my hair and wearing wigs.. because screw it, my neptune dominant self can be whatever he wants to be. ......but i still want to heal this, heal myself, you know?

please, if anyone has any idea what is happening, or why, i am listening. if anyone had hair issues, tell me your story or how you fixed it, how you felt during that time, what do you think triggered it.

I love you all

My experience is Biotin helps to stop hair loss, but it didn't help me much on regrowth. Stress also plays a part in hair fall.

I'm sorry you're going through this . It's really hard for women to experience hair loss like this because our looks are scrutinized much more so than men. It's definitely a sign that something is going on with your health, since women are not genetically predisposed to hair loss.

I've experienced this in the past. I have the same silky fine hair texture that you described. Very thin strands that feel just like a baby's hair, and people can't believe how soft it is. Luckily it's normally very thick, meaning I have a lot of it, and it's not prone to breakage despite being really long. However, I have had times in the past where seemingly overnight my hair would start coming out in clumps. My hair has always shed a lot, but I think it's so noticeable because it's long and clogs the drain easily. But this was very different, I would run my fingers through my hair and I'd literally have a big hairball in my hand. This happened a couple of times, usually only lasting a few weeks or a month and the hair always grew back. It turns out that I have Lupus, which can come and go in flares. Symptoms will pop up and then go away on their own with out any medical intervention. This was just one of the many symptoms that I've had. My autoimmune cells were attacking my hair follicles, causing this rapid hair loss.

I'm not suggesting that this is definitely what's going on with you, but hair loss is a symptom of many different autoimmune diseases, including thyroid disease which is one of the most common. The doctor ruled that out, but may need to cast a wider net to check for the presence of other antibodies. Did the doctor mention alopecia, which specifically attacks the hair follicles? It could also be a vitamin deficiency, but even if you are deficient in certain vitamins I would still suggest testing for an autoimmune issue, since they often occur together. Autoimmune antibodies will not show up in routine blood testing, they require very specific tests that are only done if a disease is suspected. Also many medications can cause hair loss.

I never used any specific products to grow my hair, but I rarely heat style it. I usually just put a few drops of argan or monoi oil and let it dry naturally. I've been using a cleansing conditioner for a while now, instead of shampoo that strips the hair's natural oils. Since using this product, if a strand gets tangled while combing my wet hair, it stretches like a rubber band rather than breaking. Before it had some give, but now it's like elastic. Preventing breakage of existing hairs will help make your hair look much thicker. I think for the rapid hair loss the best solution is to figure out the cause rather than spending tons of money on products to regrow it.

I hope this helps. The good thing about hair(for women at least) is that it grows back once the cause has been addressed. It's very rarely an ongoing issue, or something that causes permanent hair loss.

I made a thread about the natural supplements I used...cayenne pepper and soy isoflavones:

http://www.linda-goodman.com/ubb/Forum3/HTML/003110.html

I eat cayenne just about every day and have long thick hair without any gray. I think it's the cayenne.

Good luck

Great post, Bluejay! ... {{ }}

First thing I thought of, with you being 16 now, are 'hormonal shifts' in your body. (Thyroid, especially!!) Depleted thyroid can thin out your eyebrows, suddenly have you begin gaining weight (when you were always thin before), and also bring a feeling of depression and heaviness, like a lethargy that wasn't there or isn't normal.

I began a problem with my thyroid (autoimmune) while I was a teen. They didn't have sensitive-enough tests for this when I was young. They have these now. The 'Sensitive' Thyroid test (ask your physician-- they generally use the 'sensitive' test now, I think?).

**Stay with high-quality hair products-- avoid Pantene, brands like that. If you just changed your shampoos, you could be having a reaction to it?

Sometimes there are "shedding" seasons... Make sure you're brushing your hair at least twice daily (like, 100 strokes each time)?

I remember working somewhere once, where we all got exposed to 'something' unknown, and our hands began peeling. (Was working in a health food store!) Could you have been exposed to something new chemically, maybe even in the air, that you are responding to?

So sorry that this is so upsetting to you, Ilunatique! Hope you find healthy answers fast. It's not fun to feel worried so much!

**Edit-- reread your post... You're really working hard at this, tried the obvious already. Sending you thoughts for Good Luck!

Iron and Vitamin D deficiencies can cause this.

I tried biotin for thicker hair, and then I got a hair on my boob! I've heard other stories about women getting biotin and getting hair in undesirable places.
Including my hair dresser. She told me she had the best results when she took prenatal vitamins.
So I've taken a wack at it, and my boyfriend says that my hair is starting to look thicker. Yay. The brand I'm using is Garden of Life Vitamin Code Raw Prenatal. It's organic and non gmo.
Other things I've read about being good for womens hair health is Rosemary. I do have a Rosemary Shampoo. Not currently using it. (still at parents)
Currently using the shampoo and conditioner of

I have the fine hair. But it also gets greasy fast. When my hair gets greasy that when my scalp can show through my hair. I usually dry shampoo between shower days. I make my own.

I've been told not to condition my hair and such. But my hair types tangles easy. It hurts if I don't.
I condition it in the shower, do leave in conditioner after as well as detangler and shine spray. Some are the Honest brand, while others are homemade with water conditioner and oils(grapeseed, avodcado, sweet almond, argon) flower waters (rose jasmine, gardenia, lilac)

I've been adding certain things to my diet and later found out they are good for hair skin and nails like almond milk.

I've heard about cider vinager being good for hair. Especially my type of hair. But as a female I don't like the idea of smelling like that. Until I read that it is suppose to stimulate hair growth. I might want to try it once in a while.

I also shed like crazy.
Sounds like you're making lots of healthy changes for your hair. I'm sorry your not getting the desired results. The only things I haven't read about you trying is adding certain things into your diet. Maybe you are and just didn't add it to the post. But along with treatments and supplements a good diet can help with desired results.

I'm going to make a list of things to try to add to your diet. That I've seen being good for hair.
Avocado
Coconut
Rosemary
Almonds
leafy greens
pumpkin seeds

I truely believe diet can play a part in this. For example my sister's cousin in laws...they went through a phase of only wanting to eat potato chips. When their grandma would watch them they would refuse to eat until their grandma caved in and got them potato chips. They do have thin hair. It's not like I see bald spots on them(I mean they both have blond hair so it could be less noticable)

Once I started to read about what to add into a diet, I was reading some of it like what the heck? I do avocados, eggs and meat a lot, so why am I having issues? But then I don't eat as much fruits, veggies, and nuts as I should and were often not a regular part of my diet. (especially when I have a lot of deadlines for school.) I'm much better now that moved out. My mom has this wierd OCD where she buys crap and never usues it and doesn't want to throw anything away. Including food and drinks. So it's hard to know what you have.
I'm having an easier time being healthy now that I'm on my own.

My boyfriends hair was thinning. He is one of the pickiest eaters I've ever met. His diet was consisting of spaghetti with parmesan cheese dumped on it. Hashbrowns for breakfast on Saturdays with only salt on it, steak, hot dogs, chicken fingers, and bread sticks. And he was getting McDonnalds everyday on his lunch breaks.

He started taking saw palmeto, and vitamins(cheap ones from drugstores too)
And he is seeing improvements. I also got him a stanley lunch box for a one year aniversay gift. So he packs a much healhier lunch now. (pretty much anything is healthier than McDonnalds)
Gotta toot my own here, I've been good for him, I intoduced him to almond milk. He loves it more than I do! And he often drinks camomile tea with me at night. I feel like the freakin miracle worker! I think his Gemini moon likes to twin me sometimes, I buy vegitables to snack on and he started buying things likes apples and carrots.

Anyways can't hurt to try and a lot of these foods have multiple benefits. Like being good for skin, nerves, digestion, etc.

Every hair follicle has a Vitamin D receptor on it. That's pretty convincing that hair needs Vitamin D. But make sure it's D3 only. And iron is needed to nourish the follicles.

It's going to be a very slow process regenerating your hair so it does not fall out. Be patient in trying out remedies.
