This is what I have learned about magnesium: Oxide is used in low-priced supplements because it is super cheap and allows for a larger amount to be listed on the label, but it is not easily absorbable (you'll be lucky to absorb 20 percent of what the bottle claims is in it). In my opinion, the two best forms are citrate and glycinate. Glycinate is the one most easy on the stomach, although citrate is a close second. I take citrate. It's the most expensive. It simply works best. Walmart has it in gel capsules. Glycinate is often in gummies, so it is great for children. One other thing that you won't hear about much is that magnesium should only be taken on an empty stomach (one hour before a meal or two hours after a meal) because magnesium neutralizes stomach acid. The bottles always say to take it with a meal, and that's bad advice. Magnesium is a muscle relaxant, so it would be ideal to take it about an hour before bedtime. You'll sleep deeply. Lastly, edema (swelling in the feet or legs) can be caused by numerous things -- some of them quite serious (like heart problems kidney problems) -- but most of the time it is just a magnesium deficiency! A swollen foot can be huge! But soak it for an hour in very warm water with some Epsom salts (magnesium gets directly absorbed into the skin), plus take at least 250 milligrams by mouth before you go to sleep. When you wake up the next morning, like magic, your foot will be normal! That's a lot of shrinking overnight! Then continue taking it every day. Over half of people are deficient (way higher than that depending on who you believe), and over 300 different bodily processes depend on magnesium to function properly. IP: Logged |

That very informative, Thank you Randall.I tried Glycinate it was relaxing yes i don't think it was placebo. My cousin gave me a bottle of Threonate he said it gave him headaches! I'm just starting it ... initially it gave me weird vivid dreams which i don't mind hopefully no headaches, I will write my experience with it in this thread. IP: Logged |

I forgot to mention about vivid dream recall.I've heard it is very effective for increasing memory. I look forward to hearing about your experiences with it. IP: Logged |
