http://m.vice.com/read/swedish-feminists-are-so-bored-theyre-telling-men-how-to-sit-on-the-bus ^this article talks about how men in sweden are being labeled sexist for "taking up too much space" on public transit. it is claimed that this is the kind of opression that leads to women being raped and getting payed lower salaries. there is a blog called "macho in public transit" and women are encouraged to snap photos of these chauvinists. how more ridiculous can ya possibly get? did they ever think that men take up more space they are generally physically bigger than women? lol IP: Logged |

Loonies are everywhere. Don't mistake what one blogger (or even college "womyn's studies" group) for mainstream feminism. I figure you check on groups always putting down evil women and they're notorious for finding the whack jobs and lying about them being the norm.That said, I've heard interesting stories of certain Swedish feminists before...maybe enough of them really do get that bored (and then add some drugs...). well aquaguy i have to commend you for finding and sharing this glorious piece of worthless information. what exactly do you intend to prove with this article? If this is meant for a satirical purpose then let me move it to Heart & Home what's even worse than the article is the disgusting comments. i have to say this ruined my morning..

Heck pixiejane also implied I am sexist for posting this, how does that happen? lol You might not think any of this is important but I find it very troubling and the problem can only get worse from here.I'm just glad things arent this bad in the u.s yet. But they will be very soon unless people drop the political correctness and start discussing this stuff.

Labeled by whom? All feminists? No. A blogger, and possibly a handful of fans? Yes. aquaguy, i do not take labeling/making judgments about people lightly and i surly don't know you enough to call you "sexist" so don't accuse me of doing that.that being said i find it RIDICULOUS that you are comparing any of the prejudiced practiced towards women for thousands of years to this mere JOKE. so some women -maybe- got out of hand (we still don't know the context of the situation) but this is totally unimportant relative to the size of progress feminism brought. the problem with social progress, imo, is it's invisibility. do you honestly believe that if it weren't for brave women who fought for their rights years ago we'd be where we are today?? of course not. as for why i think the topic is irrelevant to the forum, it's not that you have presented an opposing point of view. it's just that the quality of the information you have provided is below the line where discussion is plausible. if i were to share every superficial piece of written media on how women are unfairly treated we would go on forever. now for this particular comment: "I'm just glad things aren’t this bad in the u.s yet. i have no idea where your concern/fear comes from if the mere goal of feminism is EQUALITY. do you think people (both men and women) do not know how to differentiate between what is right and what is wrong? do you think social changes are at all easy to implement? or are you just a little threatened by the now slightly fairer distribution of power among sexes(we are still eons away from actual fairness)? oh and one cannot just dismiss political correctness, without it almost all discussions will turn into something resembling chimps having a food fight.
