Hey y'all,

So I'm a vegetarian in need of good tofu recipes. I picked up a slab of Extra Firm at the Trader Joe's the other day, and have been mulling over how to cook it.

I'm thinking perhaps some kind of stir fry with peppers/shrooms, but haven't decided what to do with the tofu first.

Thoughts on whether it should be baked or fried? Any other ideas anyone can give me?

Thanks in advance!
Sunshine

I practiced until I got tofu perfect!

Cut your tofu into smaller pieces, lay them out on a stack of paper towls. Stack more paper towls ontop then apply a press (to squeeze out the extra moisture.) Let it set like this for a good while, then cut to your bite size liking.

Spray with Pam and bake, around 350 till golden brown.

Then toss, stirfry, etc. and enjoy!!!

That sounds easy enough.

I LOVE Tofu

The easiest way is to marinate in soy sauce. Tofu should be steamed for 5-8 minutes before using as it is not "cooked"
So,after you steam, you can marinate. This is really good.

Another one is mix peanut butter, soy sauce and garlic. Spread this on tofu and broil.

I had to hide this from my kids so *I* could eat it

Thanks, Ami! I love tofu as well.. LOVE it!!

So steam first, then marinate before stir-frying? I have soy sauce.. haven't tried the peanut butter yet, will have to give it a whirl sometime!

I love peanut butter chicken. It melts and becomes a great sauce.
