what is your comfort food?

I made a Shepard's pie yesterday because I was craving it (had a strange craving for meat and body must have needed something in it).

Had never made it myself before and didnt grow up eating it, but it's a comfort food to me. My best friend's Virgo mom would make it for my birthday every year because I loved hers so much.

Mine came out quite good. I took advice from a few different recipies and didnt stop at corn, but as many do, added peas, sweet onion and carrots to mine.

Delicioso!!!

beef broth, rosemary, thyme, worstershire sauce (and a bit of flour to thicken it up) in the meat makes all the difference.

Comfort food will be anything sweet. Unfortunately a no - no for me.

Hokien Noodles with Thai Coconut curry sauce & Basil.
I love those thick noodles with creamy sauce. So good.

I also like Brie Cheese, melted if possible, on a warm bun with cranberry sauce.

It depends. Yesterday, I craved mashed potatoes with chicken juices, salt and pepper. The day before, I wanted Strawberry Shortcake. I've craved greens (salad), carrots, and beans today, but the beans were too much for my stomach. the salad might have been, too.

Cheesecake is one. chocolate is another. It just depends.

Some people say that heavy meats are grounding. they say to have a burger if you're stressed/ungrounded (I am a lot, and I found myself craving tacos or burgers, when I was getting over agoraphobia - like Pavlov's dog, I'd be in that car, and immediately get a craving for that, and a cold drink, like coke, or orange soda. Ooh, I miss orange juice. it's one of the worst on my stomach.

I've heard that about meat too. I'm often ungrounded because I drink too much coffee. And i've found that to be true - that it's grounding. Plus the amino acids in it are beneficial too.

You might try raspberry lemonade (slightly less acidic?) I can drink that but am not a fan of oj actually.

ooo cheesecake, yes

I saw this the other day and might try to make them sometime..

Meat would be my comfort food. I know it's not very nice but...

According to my parents the only thing they could ever get my very young self to eat without force was meat.

I don't know why I was born that way but I've learned over the years not to deny that it's my nature and no matter how long I'm able to go without meat, I crave it, I need it and I eventually go back to eating it.

Ami

I put almond milk in my espresso machine and it frothed up so well... like silk, always with a double shot.

Have you tried almond milk? What is your your preferred milk?
It's a bit of a conundrum when one Loves a Latte but dislikes cow milk.
Oat milk doesn't work. Soy is probably not totally good for you but it's my favorite taste wise.

Here T, this lady makes it almost exactly like my grams. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KjM3qz7_r_U

I make it a little different though, I don't add coconut milk into the Banh Xeo mixture because I'm not a fan of coconut milk (or eggs because I'm allergic). This recipe usually calls for an egg though, but I found I can make it just fine without eggs. Wooot!

The meat is preferential, some may like to use ground pork & chicken (like in the vid), pork alone, shrimp (do not ground), or even beef & shrimp together. It can be sliced or grounded. Mushroom & scallions are also optional.

You'll need a nonstick pan to make this.

Oh also, unlike the vid, I put the sprouts and meat into the pan FIRST then pour the Banh Xeo mixture onto it. That way every thing's together like an omelet.

For example:

Good luck

I was eating Philadelphia cheese out of the tub earlier. My stomach is screwed up again, but I wish I could have some potatoes and baked beans right now, or drizzled with cooked chicken juices.
