PISCES

Brown Betty

Mike Roy: If you top the dessert with a large dab of whipped cream, your guests will love you. It’s a good, old-fashioned American dish.

1 cup dry bread or graham cracker crumbs
¼ cup melted butter
2 ½ cups peeled, diced, or sliced; apples, peaches, cherries, or cranberries
¾ cup packed brown sugar
1 teaspoon cinnamon
¼ teaspoon nutmeg
¼ teaspoon cloves
½ teaspoon salt
1 teaspoon grated lemon rind
1 teaspoon vanilla
3 tablespoons lemon juice
4 tablespoons water
½ raisins

Combine the bread crumbs and melted butter. Line the bottom of a baking dish with 1/3 of crumb mixture. Sift brown sugar, cinnamon, nutmeg, cloves, and salt. Add lemon rind and vanilla. Place ½ of apples in the dish. Cover the layer with ½ sugar of sugar mixture. Sprinkle with 1 tablespoon lemon juice. Add 2 tablespoons water. Cover the apples with 1/3 of crumb mixture and ¼ raisins. Add the remaining apples and sprinkle them as before with the remaining sugar mixture and 2 tablespoons lemon juice, 2 tablespoons water, and the remaining ¼ cup raisins. Place the last 1/3 of crumb mixture on top. Cover the dish and bake for about 40 minutes, in a 350F oven, until the apples are nearly tender. Remove cover, increase heat to 400F, and permit pudding to brown for about 15 minutes. Serve hot.

Mmmm...Zabaglione...A few friends from Italian class were telling me about it and so I was dying to try it! My Virgo buddy took me out for Zabaglione and we had it with strawberries. You can have it either cold or warm.

Well now i know why the idea of an Atkins diet seems tantamount to hell..

"Virgos need their bread"

Well.. no WONDER then hahahhahha

the desserts are really cute..but in all honesty, i would only eat marshmallows if other options were exhausted..hee hee..
Does it count that I love Brown Betty, and thats my astrological opposite?

Aphrodite, I would just like to thank you for all the efort you put into typing these recipes out (it's a very tedious task, and I loathe doing it myself). They all look so wonderful and, loving to cook and bake things myself, I will have to try all of these wonderful desserts out myself. My Taurean fiance' will absolutely love the dessert you posted for his Sign, and I think I'll make that one first
Again, thank you very, very much, for these divine treats!
