I know we have talked about this here and there, but I really have to state quality cookware is necessary for quality food!

IF I ever catch myself cooking in an aluminum or teflon coated pan again, I will hit myself over the head with it!

In the past few years, I have developed a fetish with funky, quality cookwear.

Picked up, today a cast iron skillet, painted light blue and ceramic on the cooking side, got a small cast iron for free for buying the big one.

Have had my eye on cast iron dutch ovens, will pick one up soon!

I have lots of cast iron that is well over a century old...family generated.

Imagine the energy and good cookings that were passed down with these cooking gems!

I love my rice/veggie steamer.

When I am able to eat rice again, I put some red rice, or quinoa in the bottem, in the top is a basket for the veggies, viola! Instant healthy steamed meal!

I drink out of glass as much as I can, or pottery for coffee, etc.

I am going to experiment with silver fatware again, (cause my daughter has lost most of the tacky stuff anyway.)

It is not only how our food is grown, but prepared, served, consumed that makes all the difference for health and wellbeing, not to mention a very pleasurable experience!

My mom has an iron skillet she makes cornbread in that has been passed down several generations but never washed. If it gets washed, it won't be nonstick. Mom wipes it out with a towel.

Hi Randall~

Yea, I have an ancient cast iron skillet, from the family, one of my century old ones that I use only for cornbread, and I dont wash it.

I have another I use for baking, from time to time, same thing.

But the ones I use to cook with, I have to wash....but I treat them gently, wash, dry reseason with oil before using again, if necessary.

I can remember my grandma, cooking fresh caught fish from the lake in one of these pans, she didnt wash them either.

I just love cooking in them.

Like I said, the love and energy of the process, gained over years, then we injest the food....cant compare!!!
