I was hot, bored, and thinking of good uses for the ingredients sitting around the house. Both these drinks are intended to be consumed within a day or two of being made, otherwise the ingredients begin to perish. When you are done, the left overs are great for your compost bin! Noon-Moon Chiller
Ingredients:
1 Large Cucumber, sliced thin
2 cups Fresh Mint Leaves
1 Large Asian Pear, sliced thin
1 Handful of Cilantro
1 Lemon
2 cups Granulated Sugar
4 cups Water
Lots of Ice
Create a Simple Sirup:
Add -
The 2 cups Sugar, 1 cup of Water, the Zest of 1 Lemon, and the Mint to a small sauce pan.
Set the stove to medium heat and reduce to low, once the sirup begins to simmer
Let simmer for 5 min (or more if you want more minty-ness, it's best not to exceed 10 min or the bitterness in the leaves will translate).
Don't forget to stir occasionally.
Add -
The Cucumber, Asian Pear, Cilantro, and Lemon Juice to your pitcher.
Add -
The Simple Sirup through a strainer and fill the pitcher with ice.
Bring the three remaining cups of Water to a rolling boil and add them on top of the ice
Stir and serve
