I'm ecstatic about how good it tastes! 1 cup almonds, brazil nuts, or cashews, soaked several hours or overnight 1 quart cold water Blend in the blender about 2 minutes on high speed, then pour through double layer of cheesecloth set over a sieve (or use nut milk bag if you are an old hat at this.) Put nut milk back in blender and add: 3-4 tablespoons raw agave nectar 1 tablespoon vanilla extract 2 tablespoons coconut oil pinch of salt Blend again for about 30 seconds. Now taste...doesn't that blow your mind, how good it is?! Recipe compliments of Matthew Kenney and Sarma Melgailis, from the book Raw Food Real World. They use a full 1/4 cup agave PLUS two packets of stevia. That's too sweet for me so my recipe is "adapted." IP: Logged |

I've always pondered how nuts or soybeans can be turned into milk!IP: Logged |

You're welcome. It tastes like a healthy, melted vanilla milkshake. (Does NOT taste like trollop stew! ) IP: Logged |

Wasn't sure if I should come back to this thread, you two seem to have made it a "room." But I can't resist, I love talking about crazy stuff people eat. Uh...you just have to trust me, I didn't go here on purpose: http://testyfesty.com/ We just accidentally showed up in the town and that's what the people were doing. IP: Logged |

Were they serving it or was it an eating competition?Would you try such foods just to be daring or to say you at least tried it once? Many say it's all in the mind when it comes to foods we aren't used to eating. If we grew up eating it then it would be the "norm" to us. I am picky when it comes to food though. IP: Logged |

I think there was a competition, but you could also just order them from the vendors. No, never tried anything like that... When I was young, I had snails a few times and loved them; ditto for turtle soup. And sushi with eel and octopus. That's about the limit of my exotic eating. I've wondered if I could handle a fried tarantula. Boy we are a long way off from almond milk, now. IP: Logged |

If it's a fried spider then I'm not opening the link. Why would anyone want to eat a spider? O_o *shudder* IP: Logged |

LOL! I don't know...if I think about it, ANY meat is weird. Like the back of a full chicken looks disturbingly human to me. IP: Logged |

Yeah, skin with goose bumps! If I think about it too much then I can't eat meat either.I can go without meat for months and then suddenly crave fish or a piece of red meat..and then I go on a meat strike for a couple of months again until another craving pops up. IP: Logged |
