Fall is here in the Mtns of WNC, meaning the second cycle of field garlic is popping back up

Time to make some infused garlic oil for the winter

Can't really miss it, thin green stalks of garlic that pop up out in the yard, simply harvest (you can pull them up or just take the chives)

This stuff is delicious

Not really, wild garlic has a wide leaf/sprig, field garlic has a sort of chive on top.

For example, if lawns are mowed in your neighborhood and you smell garlic in the air in the spring, it's most likely field garlic that has had it's chives lopped off.

In WNC we have a Spring Garlic and a Fall Garlic crop

So, do you plant the garlic Padre. Guess what, one came up today but I don't remember planting it. I throw all sorts of #$#@ into the garden, so who knows what will appear

If you cut the green outgrowth down, will it come up again, Padre?

Yes, my garlic is doing so well. I have to thank Padre.

My friend, who is a garden guru, never even heard of it and he was impressed when I told him about it and he saw the garlic come up.

Yea Padre

Hehe..the student instructed the guru in that case AA.

the one thing I've really noticed in the gardening community is a sort of frame of mind of "oh, it's fall, planting season is over" or "oh, it's August and the tomatoes and peppers have bee harvested, done for the year"

It's more a mental thing, heck one can plant radishes mid December and have them by Spring easily.

I am so thrilled with the things you taught me, Padre. I have all the oils and the garlic growing, too, and I snip off the tops every day.

You are an amazing fountain of knowledge

Mine are coming up as well, think I'll make more of a mixed/frying oil this time.

Thing is garlic has so much sugar in it that one has to be careful or it will burn

And don't ask me about "Preachers Whiskey"

I totally violate seasons. I had peppers all summer. I had one cayenne pepper plant that grew into a tree with a trunk and everything
