So i was craving sweet things like this the other day, but after a health scare last month, am not taking a single risk any more, by going and buying the stuff in the markets, and instead i found this recipe! All you need is Gelatin, honey, Vanilla and water (marshmallow root if it's available is optional)...and there you have it a nice treat, without all the guilt of eating sugar chemicals and preservatives. http://wellnessmama.com/6423/healthy-probiotic-marshmallows/ quote: Healthy marshmallows made with honey instead of sugar. Can even add probiotics for the health benefits! Author: Wellness Mama Recipe type: Dessert, Snack Cuisine: American Serves: 6Ingredients 4 tablespoons of grass fed gelatin powder 1 cup of water 1 Tablespoon of Marshmallow Root (optional) 1 cup of honey (I use Tropical Traditions brand) 1 teaspoon vanilla or other flavor optionals (mint extract, lemon, cocoa powder, etc) Optional: 4 capsules of probiotics. I use this brand. Shelf stable recommended Equipment: A small sauce pan, plus a hand mixer & a metal bowl- or a kitchen aid mixer if you have one Instructions Optional Step: Boil 1 cup of water with the 1 tablespoon of Marshmallow Root simmer for 5 minutes, stirring well. Let cool and strain. Make sure that the liquid left still makes a whole cup. Pour ½ cup of water(marshmallow mix if you used it) into the metal bowl or mixer bowl and add the gelatin. Whisk slightly to incorporate and let sit. Pour the other ½ cup of water and the 1 cup of honey into the small saucepan. Slowly bring the water and honey mixture to a boil. If you have a kitchen thermometer, you want it to reach at least 240 degrees. If not, just keep boiling, stirring constantly for 8 minutes. Slowly start pouring the honey/water mixture into the bowl with the gelatin mix (which will be hardened by now). Turn on the mixer or hand mixer and keep on medium as the honey mixture is added. When add honey mix is added, turn the mixer to high and blend with the mixer for another 10-15 minutes or until it forms a stiff cream the consistency of marshmallow cream (it should form gentle peaks). Add the probiotics and any flavor ingredients for the last 2 minutes of mixing (except cocoa powder which can be added to the honey mix in the saucepan). Grease a 9×13 inch baking dish with coconut oil, or line with parchment paper, leaving some on the sides to be able to pull up. When marshmallows are whipped, pour into the lined/greased dish and smooth evenly. Let sit at least 4 hours (overnight is better). Flip on to a cutting board and cut with a well oiled pizza cutter or knife. Store in an airtight container. Notes Do NOT store in the fridge as they will melt. Store in an airtight container at room temperature. The probiotics will decrease the shelf life to 3-4 days. Without the probiotics, these will last 2-3 weeks on the counter.

oh oops hehe ....got carried away so i finally did it...and two thingscareful which gelatin brand u are using....i used a certain kind and used to little at first, thankfully noticed and added more before i started (i reread the pack twice and they said it happens) get honey u like already, as it will influence the taste, and use good quality vanilla extract... it is setting atm (they said over night)but i tasted the creamy mix, and so light and airy! it's very nice!!! So both of you come over 2moro and try it (PS use a kitchen aid if u have one, will really cut back on the time of mixing!) IP: Logged |

LOL okay Charmaine let me know how it goes!!my only advise is be very generous with the gelatine specially if you get one of them "vary according to recipe, as this isnt your usual gelatine thing" and get a Honey you already like the taste of, and real vanilla, not what some places sell! so yeah i think that was it! let me know how it goes (also i think the measurments for the pan are supposed to be in centimeters not inches) okay yeah i think that is it all! must let me know how it goes IP: Logged |

Elo, NoRains. The first batch came out.. *clears throat* gooey. My dog was grateful for the sweet treat. Which means it passed the taste test Made another batch and it came out perfect! They tasted like creamy fluffy poofy clouds with a twist. Very nice. Added more gelatin and it did the trick! ------------------ "DON'T EVER try and destroy someone's life with a LIE.....when yours can be destroyed with the TRUTH...." SY Jacobs IP: Logged |
