I love banana " bread puddings". When I was young-er (LOL), I used to buy them from the local street vendors. Didn't know how to make them until my mother-in-law showed me. Lol but for some strange reason I don't think they taste as good as the ones I bought from the vendors.

You need:

- 220 ml of milk.
- 200 ml of coconut milk.
- 2 table spoons of condensed milk (this is like the "secret ingredient")
- 100 gr of sugar.
- 2 big eggs.
- 20 gr of butter.

Mix all of these ingredients together.

- 6 big banana: cut into thin slices.
- 1 -> 2 loaves of baguette bread (or any old bread will do).

Cut the bread into small pieces, soak them in the milk mixture.

Line a baking pan with baking paper. Arrange a layer of banana, then spread a layer of bread mixture on top. Repeat.

Preheat the oven, bake at 165 - 175 degree until golden brown.

Serve cold.

I love custards and bread pudding but I never heard of this delight .

I always have bananas around but have to get the coconut milk.

It sounds awesome and it will be made this week end..... or as soon as I can convert measurements

One of my best friends is German..I bought an electric scale that gives the weight in both grams and ounces, so I could make her recipes. The scale wasn't expensive and, not trying to sell anything of course, but I've been grateful to have one many times, for many different uses.

Thank you, 12 muddy, I'm sure I will like this one! Did you make it out of banana dolphins? Even better!

I still work measurements according to the metric system because that's all we used on the other side of the world.

I tried converting but jeez..besides, I prefer using my own measurements. a little of this a dash of that a cup of this ..

Will try to make it easier for you guys next time.

Love reviving these older threads - so much good stuff here.

I'm including metric from now on if it is given in the recipe. Only the newer cookbooks list English system and Metric system together. Sorry, my generation learned metric as a novelty, ha! Hard to break old habits.

In SA they used the metric system so yes, old habits are hard to break. When giving measurements etc my brain automatically switched to metric.
