Here's my great new concoction for an organic grain and pulse dish. I came up with this yesterday and gulped it down instantly. My daughter ate it as if she were starvingI cooked three black-colored items together and when it was done it looked like caviar.
Black quinoa (these are very tiny grains, smaller than the red or white quinoa)
Black Lotus Forbidden rice
Black Baby Beluga lentils
Use equal measure for each, and add liquid according to each grain recommendation for the amount you choose. I used water.
Bring it to a boil and then simmer for 20 minutes, covered. You can let it sit covered until you are ready to serve.
I added a little salt and coconut oil when it was simmering to keep it from clumping sticking together and to sweeten it up a bit. You can use any liquid or spices you want, and oil is optional.
To serve, add a heap of caramelized onions on top. Very tasty and fulfilling, and everyone is intrigued by the name "Black Gold"
It really is a treasure.
