I didn't have a hard time choosing. Salmon is the 1st choice, as always. Clean water: I thought of natural, crystal clear springs n small rivers too. But I've read articles which said that water in nature isn't always a good choice - ladden with harmful organisms n stuff. Salmon: so tasty, and can be eaten raw or cooked. Easy to cook, easy to eat. I have quite a few salmon recipes. And salmon is nutritious too. I wish I could live on salmon for the rest of my life. Beef: love it raw, cooked or medium rare. Salt - Sugar: seasoning, salt is vital. And sugar can be used to make deserts. Raspberries: my favourite fruit. Bok choy - Potatoes: I guess one has to eat "some" kinds of veggies. Love roasted potatoes. Bok choy would serve as leafy veg.. Cooking pots. And the last " food item": My other half - food for the soul lolol IP: Logged |

You can make a nice sugar bean curry with the masala, Juni. Not even sure why they call it a sugar bean because it's not sweet. :/------------------ "DON'T EVER try and destroy someone's life with a LIE.....when yours can be destroyed with the TRUTH...." SY Jacobs IP: Logged |

Oh my !Myrrh does not go in beans " it is used for incense and perfumes" I knew it was used for incense but thought maybe a spice for food as well. I`m learning ladies, I`m learning !! I am brave enough to add the Masala tho! ------------------ Christian, Jew, Muslim, Shaman, Zoroastrian, stone, ground, mountain, river, each has a secret way of being with the Mystery, unique and not to be judged. I`m growing apples, plums and pears that don`t need cross pollination so you have them to count on. Looks like I have to learn to make tortillas.... ------------------ Christian, Jew, Muslim, Shaman, Zoroastrian, stone, ground, mountain, river, each has a secret way of being with the Mystery, unique and not to be judged. i love these answers!!! God's honest truth, i was eating something with salsa one night and started imagining life w/o it lol *cry* and that inspired this thread. Admittedly my fave homemade salsa is closer to a pico de gallo (with ALOT more fresh ingredients - extra chunky veggie salsa ) but i imagined how sad i'd be if i were stuck somewhere w/o fresh ingredients to make a good salsa---HELL! Still coming up with a list to fit the thread....... IP: Logged |

I've been wanting to come up with my list but I don't think I could ever limit myself like that. IP: Logged |

Since some fermented foods are made with salt and water, would the sea water be any good for that? I think I might be too stupid to survive for long if I'm wondering things like this. I know you aren't supposed to drink sea water. Coconuts are good for all sorts of things. I'd need a battery-operated blender, and a lifetime supply of batteries, to make smoothies... I could grow greens in the shade of the trees, unless something needs direct sunlight. Walnuts and spices, as well as salsa. Leaves, or collards and lettuce would be used for wraps. You can make nut spreads, as well, for wraps. IP: Logged |

Love your answers teasieb but one thing i do know is that fermented food needs to be produced in an extremely sterile environment, just like kombucha or else people are going to get real sick.tbh i'd rather gnaw on a plain old carrot or cucumber straight out the ground than ingest any homegrown kimchi or kombucha.

homemade pickles are on my list of things to make too. My faves are "zesty dills" which i notice have whole peppercorns at the bottom of the jar. I'd be willing to bet throwing in a few different peppers into the mix would never hurt a pickle either. IP: Logged |
