I was just given a reading by a psychic lady, and amongst other things she asked med to drink a liter of lemon water every day! At first I was a bit confused, I have never tried it before and was unsure about what the benefits could be. I tried boiling a liter of water and added half a lemon, before sieving out the lemon bits after it was done. It tastes nice, and apparently has great health benefits; http://tasty-yummies.com/2013/03/18/10-benefits-to-drinking-warm-lemon-water-every- morning/ Still, I'm a little worried about the acidity. Could be bad for the teeth if you drink it every day? I can't gulp down a liter of water in one go, so I have to add it to my water bottle and drink throughout the day. Any experiences with this? Sibyl Ps. This might be in the wrong forum? I was a little unsure about where it belongs and whether I should put it here, in Health and Healing or in Hearth and Home. I think it could go in all three tbh, but settled on this one as this seems to be where people discuss foodstuffs the most. IP: Logged |

A friend once recommended it to me, along with drinking apple cider vinegar. I tried both and I think that it helped to boost my energy level. My schedule can get quite hectic sometimes. Especially when I used to work night shifts a lot. I usually slept right after I got home and when I woke up I'd feel really sluggish n whatnot. A big glass of lemonade with a few drops of orange blossom water n a spoonful of honey helped immensely. But yeah I have the same concern about possible dental problems (heavy saturn here - gotta take good care of my little teeth keke). I only take one glass a day though...and rinse my mouth right afterwards. I've been doing this on and off for 2 - 3 years and so far no problem with my teeth *yet* You may to try drinking one big glass in the morning and another at lunch time ? IP: Logged |

I've been drinking lemon water for years and have never experienced any dental problems from it.From what I've heard, lemon juice that is so diluted in water isn't much of an issue. Straight lemon juice would be a problem if it was consumed all the time. If the acidity still concerns you, drinking through a straw will bypass your teeth. Also, drinking it cold or at room temperature instead of HOT is a good idea. You could also try drinking a glass of lemon water, then plain water, then lemon water, then plain water, etc. IP: Logged |

Thank you so much for your replies, 12muddy and MoonWitch! I have been drinking the lemon water cold. I boiled the water with the lemon (just the stuff inside, not the peel - not sure if that is correct?), then I left it to cool off and had it throughout the day. Will try either drinking with straw, have it all in one go or rinsing my teeth after though :-) I'm not overly fond of water (I'm one of those who sometimes forget drinking anything for a whole day) so I like taking it in small sips. Which is why I was a little concerned about my teeth. But I'm relieved that you guys have been able to accommodate it into your diets for so long with no problems. IP: Logged |

It's true citrus acid breaks down enamel of your teeth. I don't have experience with lemon juice remedies but I know that 1 drop of pure lemon essential oil in a glass of water (not in plastic) has amazing health benefits. I think you would get a better response from Health and Healing since your post is about using lemon water as a remedy. I'll see if I can copy it there. IP: Logged |
