Ingredients:
Oil to deep fry
Okra- 100 gms(sliced length wise into four)
Gram flour- 3 tbsp
Chilly powder-1tbsp
Salt-to taste
Indian garam masala powder-1tsp
Lime juice -1tsp
Wash n Slice the okras, keep them aside.
Heat oil in a deep pan. Meanwhile take a small bowl, add the gram flour, chilly powder, salt, garam masala and mix them. This will be the dry masala.
When the oil is hot(should not be too hot), place the sliced okras in a deep bowl, sprinkle the mixed masala on top. Toss the okras so the coarse masala get coated(dry coat).Squeeze the lime juice on top. Toss the bowl till the gram flour/masala powder is coated coarsely on the okras.
Deep fry them immediately. Tasty, crispy okras are ready.
Ps: Okras must be dry. Oil temperature must not be very high.

Yeah when frying one has to be careful with spices as the oil will scorch the seasoning

I use flour and cornmeal 50/50. I like it really crispy.

Cornmeal? I thought cornmeal ensures the marinade wont split. I will try it with cornflour.
I use corn flour to deep fry bitter gourd/cauliflower florets/fish,etc... This recipe I use gramflour. Sometimea a tsp of rice flour.
Ps: Randall, do u have any personal planet in Taurus?Sun or Moon? : D

Nah, I just have a mom who can cook anything. The flour and cornmeal mixed together makes for a very tasty coating that crisps nicely. I even like to burn it some. Not a fan of slimy okra.

oh not at all, spices and herbs have oils in them that usually have a lower smoke point then the oil one is cooking them in

IE, careful or they will burn
