Most people get angry when they come up with vinegar.

Yet you are sad because it won't happen?

Truly, life never ceases to amaze.

I'm sorry, Ami.

I'm an idiot when it comes to this, I've never tried.

Yesterday when I was riding with this lady to town, I asked for the first time how to make Wine. (She was born on April Ninth, what about that?)

Anyway, she's been doing it for years, and she told me about all these different things you can make it out of

Elderberry
Dandelion
Pears
Berries.

She said the best one was Boysenberry.

She's the Mother of the one who

Well, there was a tragedy between our families last week.

I suspect AA, one does not realize that the "mother" is actually a beneficial bacterial culture.

It winds up looking like a large disk floating on top of the solution if one is making a large batch

Also keep in mind, you are supposed to shake it up every now and then.

I know someone who's an expert at making homemade vinegar... wine vinegar... they just use up their spoiled batches of wine for salad dressing, hee-hee!

I guess you could always make it by accident instead of ruin it by accident... ?????

I wonder if I could add wine to the apples, water etc. I can't keep the apples down though like you are supposed to, I guess. Is this a problem? IOW, the touch the air.

I was referring to spoiled homemade wine. It's tricky getting the chemistry right for a good batch of wine. When it spoils you end up with great wine vinegar though.

Wow, this sounds so easy. It's a great project for when you are making a batch of apples sauce or apple pie. Just use the scraps and you end up with homemade vinegar.
Thanks!!!

from the article:

"
Plus, making your own ACV [apple cider vinegar] is fun {at least for me, I get a kick out of things like this} because you get to use all of the left over pieces of apple; like the cores and the peelings the kids decide they don't like to eat.

An additional benefit to this is that if you have chickens, you can feed them the apple pieces once you've completed the process and they are good for them too! Otherwise you can also add the apple pieces to your compost pile.

I wonder if you can use the apple pulp from a juice extractor along with the cores to make a batch?

Oh sure, anything from the apple save for the stems, the key is the apples are packed with sugar that primes the liquid for the fermentation into ACV.

I did add a mother liquid, the bacteria that ferments the liquid forms a large disk that floats all the way to the bottom turning the apple material into ACV, once at the bottom you can simply add it to the next batch or preserve it for later usage.
