It amazes me how health food stores carry isles and isles of junk food. I know, they are alternatives for those with special dietary needs, but they are far from healthy.

Just recently I discovered the healthiest junk food ever. Sprouted Grain Puffs by Unique Pretzel Bakery- non GMO pretzels made with sprouted grain flour and organic extra virgin olive oil (I thought all olive oil is organic because of the olive tree's natural resistance to pests), salt, yeast, soda. A total of 5 basic ingredients. They taste good too (my son eats them and he's picky). I love them dipped in plain organic peanut butter.

You can find them here from the company that supplies the sprouted grain flour: http://essentialeating.com/products/sprouted-whole-grain-organic-pretzel-puffs

Or directly from the factory here: http://www.uniquesplits.com/pretzels-sprouted-puffs/

So... would anyone else like to share really healthy junk food products with top recommendations for all of us to taste test?

Interesting. I get a little defensive when a company decided to make junk food out of "healthy" ingredients. The minute you start processing food to make it shelf stable, it's really not food anymore. Health food is supposed to be wholesome and simple.
The healthiest junk food is... fruit! (Because of all the fructose)

Good point, Yin. Thanks for your comment.

It's really hard to escape processed snack foods, though, so pretzels are a great choice ordinarily, yet with sprouted grain flour it takes it up a notch.

My youngest son loves those sprouted pretzels.

---

When I think of "healthy" processed food, I'm thinking of raw kale chips, raw super cookies...

^SO GOOD....and all the other reaaaallly expensive raw foods.

A notch below the raw foods in quality, my family likes Larabars, and we find them at discount stores all the time.

My kids also think green kombucha is "junk food"...too bad it's expensive or I'd buy cases of it for them.

^ Maybe the fact that it looks gross is part of the fun?

I found another yummy junk food at the health food store.
Organic popped corn in coconut oil with Himalayan sea salt lightly added.

You could taste the flavor of coconut with the popcorn and the pink salt counteracted the sweetness of the oil.
