Hello lovely people.

I am 17 and I am going to be alone at home for a month.

I am bad at cooking.

But I want to be good in it, and take this opportunity to improve my cooking skills.

I have so far learnt how to make chicken pie. And I tried to make basa fish but it was horrible. I still ate it.

Things I know:
-Baked french fries
-Chicken pie
-Omelette
-Cake (with the ready made cake mixture)
-Baked fish
-Cookies (not from scratch)
-Noodles
-Pasta

If you know any recipes I can make, and let me know I would really appreciate that.

Thank you. xx

I think you have a great start with what you know already. Just experiment with seasonings and it will taste different each time. Do you have a crock pot?

If you have a saute pan and If you like meat you can braise anything and it will come out moist. For instance, take a pork chop or a chicken breast or piece of steak and rinse it and dry it well. Then dust it lightly with flour, and sear it on all sides on high heat in oil. Do not pierce it with a fork, Use tongs. Add a small amount of liquid like broth or wine or on high heat and then turn it down to low, add seasonings, and cover it partially (you can cover it all the way if you use lowest heat). Let it cook on low heat without disturbing it until it is done, 35-60 minutes depending on the meat and the thickness. Pork must cook longer than other meats to be safe. Serve over noodles or rice. You can even dice celery onion carrot and add it to the pan cooking it a bit first, then smother the meat before covering with lid. Very simple. While it cooks you can prepare the rest of your meal, a tossed salad perhaps or frozen vegetable, and set the table with candles to celebrate devouring your creation.

Soups

For split pea, all you need are the peas, onion, carrot and water.

I use a chicken broth base instead of the water but that just adds some flavor and not needed.

Simmer for a few hours. Stir cuz it can stick.

Amazing soup.

That's a great suggestion. Why didn't I think if that?
I'm making your soup this week, and I will show my teenaged daughter how easy it is.

Born Again Jews don't have to be kosher. That was part of the Law and we are not under the law now

I use little slices of bacon, fry them first with onion and then put the rest of the ingredients... very tasty!!

Ami, another food we love to make at home is soups... I'll leave one that my mom did last week:

- Carriot
- Potatos
- Meat diced
- Cauliflower
- Onion
- a little of hot pepper and salt on this one...

You dice them all, put water in a pressure cooker for 30 min and wait for the despressure... ready to eat!!

Cooked in the oven. The cinnamon mixes with the butter as it melts.

Fine, if all of you back-sliders are going to do it, so am I.

And speaking of Fine, I remember when that Cantor left the Altar for the Stage, Nanny Fine's Mother sat in the back row of the Synagogue eating a BLT in despair.

But if I die and go you-know-where, it'll be all your faults.

Humph.

And speaking of the Slough of Despond, I thought it was *John* Bunyan.

Just kidding.

Hey, I thought maybe I would just throw some of those little green thingys into the crock pot.

You know when you make a Ham with Pineapple, Cherries and Brown Sugar?

Pick a Lemon from the Tree and add a bit of Mustard?

Cherry Syrup and Pineapple Juice included?

Well, there is that and some of the ham that was left, and I just added the Green Peas.

Think it'll be good?
