Has anyone ever tried banana ice-cream? It's this amazing alternative for vegans (or anyone who wants a healthy alternative) to regular ice cream!

Basically you just chop up some bananas (3 is usually good for a serving... however I just ate 6 ) and freeze, then blend in food processor or blender until silky smooth (don't add any liquid/water) and VOILA amazing vegan ice cream. Albeit it doesn't taste exactly like ice cream, however, it does have the same texture as a soft serve ice cream and you can always throw in a tablespoon, or 2 of raw cocoa powder, (or you can also throw in other fresh or frozen fruits like blueberries, strawberries, blackberries, raspberries... or if you are a coffee drinker you could even throw in a little coffee, man I wish I had known about this back when I used to drink caffeine! Now I'll just have to dream about the banana-coffee mix as I'm not supposed to drink any form of caffeine) and it doesn't give the same sluggish/gut rot feeling that ice cream does! In fact the opposite! It gives energy! And satisfies the sweet craving. For example I was basically falling asleep tired but kinda craving a sweet snack but know its not good to eat too close to bed.. when I remembered my frozen bananas and yet to try nana-ice cream so I whipped it up and it's great and feel so much more awake and a little energy boost too! It was so good I went back for seconds. And you can make a banana split, with banana ice cream! Frozen and fresh together, so awesome! And you can freeze tons of bananas so they are just sitting there waiting for you to have some delicious vegan, sugar free ice cream! They say fruit is nature's candy, and well, this certainly is!! It's definitely going to make my banana island adventure so much more appealing, now I am really looking forward to it in fact!

I'm drooling over this post. Actually, I'm lazy, ha!, and just eat the frozen banana slices from the freezer. I buy bulk when prices are low, cut them up ripe and flavorful, and store them in the freezer for smoothies and sundaes and cereal. Now I can use the homogenizer on my juicer to serve gourmet nana cream, yum.

It's easier than pie! Pie isn't always THAT easy

And it's sooo delicious, I've been eating it every night and I feel like it's helping me feel more refreshed/less exhausted/less sore in the morning. I think the biotherapeutic drainage drops I've been taking are really helping actually too! Last week I felt pretty awful and exhausted, this week I am feeling much better so far! Usually my muscles can be somewhat sore no matter what but I feel lighter somehow this week, I think cause toxins are finally and truly being drained from my system!

Hehe yeah I couldn't help it. Awesome saying too, I haven't heard that one before. Usually I am just eating 2 per night for the ice cream, sometimes 3, but 6 the first time cause it was soooo good.

Oh my gosh. My friend served banana ice cream for dessert at a luncheon this week. She used frozen bananas and frozen cherries mixed with chocolate mint candies that she alternated putting through the machine and it turned out so good.

Well, I made frozen banana cream with frozen cranberries, and I thought, why not experiment... so i added frozen snap peas to the mix. Topped it with a bit of pure maple syrup and it was great.
I used the Champion juice extractor with the homogenization attachment instead of the juicer screen. Worked out really well.

Anyone experiment with frozen veggie ice cream?

Sounds great! I love it topped with maple syrup. I haven't tried it mixed with veg but I do know some people have tried it mixed with spinach or spirulina, also tahini drizzle seems to be popular, or some peanut butter mixed in. Dates would be good too. Cacao nibs, choco syrup, chopped nuts are other popular toppings.

I just learned it's also called "nice cream" hehe so awesome

It's sooo good! Made some this week with cinammon. First time. I am trying to be vegan here and this kind of stuff makes it easy.

Sounds good adding cinnamon !
I wonder if frozen apples with cinnamon would taste like fresh homemade applesauce ? Maybe sprinkle in granola chunks and it would taste like apple pie ?
Time to experiment with different fruits added in.

I just made it again w/frozen vegetables mixed in with the bananas. Different ones this time. Snap peas are the sweetest, though.

drool...

Here's how I often make banana ice cream. My husband loves it lol

Take one banana and place it in a ziplock bag. Flatten it (or you can cut it into thin slices).

Heat up some coconut milk with sugar and add some flour to thicken. Pour this mixture into the ziplock bag. Add dessicated coconut and crushed roast peanuts.

Wait until it's frozen and enjoy.

Sometimes I add extra stuff like cinnamon, vanilla extract, condensed milk, other fruits....etc...
