I recently read an article that says you can wash your potatoes in the dishwasher. They claim most everything can be washed in the dishwasher, sanitize cycle on, and takes less water to wash than by doing it by hand. Imagine that!"Potatoes Top shelf; rinse and hold; hold the soap. You’re welcome. Read more: http://www.mnn.com/your-home/at-home/blogs/18-things-you-can-clean-in-the-dishwasher-aside-from-the-dishes#ixzz3VnQ8rSPn " IP: Logged |

I know, that's really crazy, washing potatoes in the dishwasher. I guess if your water is really hot you can boil them tooIP: Logged |

Good idea if you plan on making mashed potatoes, which requires a whole bag.IP: Logged |

I've never tried it either. I like the concept, though. Especially if you plan on eating the skins, because you want to ensure they are clean. IP: Logged |

I will test it the next time I make mashed potatoes (usually with home-made meatloaf and iron skillet cornbread).IP: Logged |

Crunching into dirt on the skins is not pleasant.IP: Logged |

The skins are so healthy that I try to eat them if they are cooked properly and are soft.IP: Logged |

That's funny. I was just going to write for you to try it and then tell you to let me know how it goes. But... I keep getting this message in my head to "have courage, have courage." I'm putting one in the dishwasher today so I don't forget when it comes time to start the cycle. So when my new Miele malfunctions, I'm sending you the repair bill, Randall. (You too, Ami for laughing) IP: Logged |

Tried it. Put 1 potato on top rack with no soap. This would work if you plan to roast a bunch of potatoes with skins on. Water was not hot enought to cook it but it came out clean. Didn't see the point. If you are peeling potatoes, why wash them first? IP: Logged |

I had her homemade mashed potatoes today. With homemade cornbread, field peas, collards, broccoli and cheese, and tea. IP: Logged |

I love eating whipped potatoes with tons of butter and whole milk, kept warm in a crock pot so every serving is steamy hot. IP: Logged |
