Whether you celebrate Easter or not - anyone have any interesting plans for what they might be cooking and eating this weekend?

We're going to the store in a little while to see what looks good for the weekend. I live in Europe (grew up in America) and I love to see all the chocolate eggs and special pastries and cakes in the window displays

Easter seems to be a really big deal here - not as a religious holiday, but as a spring celebration of renewal. All the kids are out of school and most people are off work now until tuesday and planning meals with their families.

Just me and my husband (and the cats) but we might make a little something special for spring.

classic!

I found this kind of "easter bread" here. It's like a regular yeast bread, but it has hazelnuts, raisins and stuff like that in it, plus down the middle is a line of almond paste. It was pretty good with coffee!

You did a great job of describing that bread.

heh, thanks for the descriptive props

They have the same bread or very similar at Christmas, it's just that often they take out the dried fruit and it's just the bread with the almond paste in the middle at that time of year. They have other breads for different holidays. I guess it's a thing here! King's Day is coming up, and for that holiday they have something like a soda bread in the shape of a crown.

I also like devilled eggs... we didn't have any of that stuff though. It's odd, cause in Germany, they do, and we are so close to Germany. But the customs are still very different.

Unless we run out, which is almost what happened to mine this year.

It was not a liberal sprinkling

They were good, though!
