Well, I do love a good party!

Sake, eggrolls and my contribution, Cuban sandwiches..so far.

juni, it's 77* here...on it's way to 80. I've turned my patio fan on high and turned it in your direction. Hope it helps.

Let's see juni; a Cuban sandwich is made on a Cuban bread loaf...similar to French or Italian...but with some different ingredients.

The bread in cut down it's length, like you're making a Hogie, then buttered or brushed with olive oil..my favorite, then mustard, then thin sliced ham, sliced pork roast, Swiss cheese and pickles are added in layers.

Then the whole sandwich is put into a press which compacts the layers, toasts the bread till it's crunchy and melts the cheese. Yummmm

Eleanore could probably explain it better. There's some discussion about what ingredients are authentic Cuban...and which are not. Some add Salami or lettuce and tomato...or all of the above. Whatever, they're all delicious.

I love a toasted sandwich dripping melted cheese so the other fillings are just a bonus

Never had sake either but I`m game!

Have to agree about the sandwich.

A bottle of warmed Sake would take the chill out of the air up there.

Oh, I love me a cuban sandwich. Thanks, Jwhop!

Here's a recipe link that takes into consideration that most people don't actually own a sandwich press:

Three Guys From Miami

I've got regular sake but I have yet to brave the infamous Habu Sake, or Habushu.

My amaryllis bulbs are finally starting to bloom so I'd be glad to bring them over for a lovely table setting.

Who's got dessert?

Eleanore, I live about 25 miles from Ybor City which is in North Tampa...across the Bay of Tampa from St Petersburg.

When I go to Ybor City to pick up cigars, I always find myself a Cuban sandwich too.

oh my goodness I looked at the recipe link Eleanore provided and the Roast Pork For Cuban Sandwiches looks sooo good. I never heard of it but you bet I will have tasted it soon

It is similar to what we call a porketta except the porketta has fennal seeds too.

Hi Pid so happy to hear you are home!!
