i took a class on Shakespeare as 1 of my only 2 free electives in college, my friends mocked my choice since as Economics majors most of them hated literature.. not me though.. i loved it!

i presented the chapter on the sonnets, i read (almost) all of them and was able to pick a favorite to read to the class.

Sonnet 19:

Devouring Time, blunt thou the lion's paws,
And make the earth devour her own sweet brood;
Pluck the keen teeth from the fierce tiger's jaws,
And burn the long-lived phoenix in her blood;
Make glad and sorry seasons as thou fleets,
And do whate'er thou wilt, swift-footed Time,
To the wide world and all her fading sweets;
But I forbid thee one most heinous crime:
O, carve not with thy hours my love's fair brow,
Nor draw no lines there with thine antique pen;
Him in thy course untainted do allow
For beauty's pattern to succeeding men.
Yet, do thy worst, old Time: despite thy wrong,
My love shall in my verse ever live young.

..i remember they all loved it, and my prof. (a wonderful Irish American man)applauded my choice..

share your fav. sonnets and/or plays..

Love Shakespeare,
mostly the stuff from 'Midsummer Night's Dream' but other stuff as well.

I have a Shakespeare quote book that I carry around in my bag, cos you never know when you might need to quote Shakespeare (?) Actually I have no clue why I carry it, other than I figure if I have to wait in line or something,
might as well have good brain food.

OMG! Did he really say that? That is hilarious, I love him EVEN more now... LOL.
What sign was Shakespeare??
(I am SO going to be saying that all day long. )

Here are a few that I opened to:

~Lovers and madmen have such seething brains,
such shaping fantasies, that apprehend
more than cool reason ever comprehends.~

(Midsummer Night's Dream)

and

~Love is a familiar;
Love is a devil;
there is no evil angel but love.~

(Love's Labor Lost)

I don't know about the asc,... but I have a Libra Moon, so maybe that's the draw.
Kid Rock has one as well, and I 'get' his writing too, although, it AIN'T SHAKESPEARE, lol.

I have of late,—but wherefore I know not,—lost all my mirth, forgone all custom of exercises; and indeed, it goes so heavily with my disposition that this goodly frame, the earth, seems to me a sterile promontory; this most excellent canopy, the air, look you, this brave o’erhanging firmament, this majestical roof fretted with golden fire,—why, it appears no other thing to me than a foul and pestilent congregation of vapours. What a piece of work is man! How noble in reason! how infinite in faculties! in form and moving, how express and admirable! in action how like an angel! in apprehension, how like a god! the beauty of the world! the paragon of animals! And yet, to me, what is this quintessence of dust?

I suggest to read a book simply called: Shakespeare written by Bill Bryson. It's a funny yet interesting look at the Bard's life ( even though little is known of his personal life). Thoroughly entertaining.
