Where the common rules are strict and all must have housing material, landscape even paint colors et al that follows strict guidelines? Some rules would be like only 2 dogs, no outside lights on after 10pm, no flags or ornamental lawn statues ect? If so, do you like the rules? If not, would you live in one? ------------------ Christian, Jew, Muslim, Shaman, Zoroastrian, stone, ground, mountain, river, each has a secret way of being with the Mystery, unique and not to be judged. Really, why? I`m curious because I work in many and the rules/regulations are crazy. I was chastized because I left a weeding bucket on the side lawn for too long. There they actually count the amount of plants/planted containers you have and the plants must be of a specific kind, size and color. No way I would ever live like that.. ------------------ Christian, Jew, Muslim, Shaman, Zoroastrian, stone, ground, mountain, river, each has a secret way of being with the Mystery, unique and not to be judged. You and me both Dee! I escape to my farm when the day is done. The people and their rules are left behind and I can plant whatever I want where ever I want. I live in the middle of farm country so we don`t even have zoning laws. The folks are as neat and tidy as those choking on theirs. ------------------ Christian, Jew, Muslim, Shaman, Zoroastrian, stone, ground, mountain, river, each has a secret way of being with the Mystery, unique and not to be judged. I live in the suburbs. They arn't too much of a stickler where I'm from. The only thing that I really notice. Is that the grass can't be too long. Or the city will come and cut your crass and you'll have to pay the city(or whatever) $50.I can understand. Since there are some down town areas, resteraunts, dumpsters, allys near by. That mean that citys get the ocasional rats and stuff. I guees if the grass is too long rats could hide in the grass and increase their population. My town isn't really known for rats. But the town outside of us that have the booming down towns. IP: Logged |

While the community you live in is much more lenient that the ones I work in, I still would not live somewhere where I`m told how tall my grass can be or how many dogs. It sounds reasonable in your town but country is my only way Different flavors to suit different tastes! ------------------ Christian, Jew, Muslim, Shaman, Zoroastrian, stone, ground, mountain, river, each has a secret way of being with the Mystery, unique and not to be judged. Hey T give them a chance. Transplant shock in July is common so keep well watered, cut off any blooms/buds and while they will pout, they should make it. No fertilizer! Here gated communitys are "exclusive " and big $$ homes. One needs a pass code to enter the fancy gates. Inside it`s just a huge click with snooty folks and enough rules to choke a horse. ------------------ Christian, Jew, Muslim, Shaman, Zoroastrian, stone, ground, mountain, river, each has a secret way of being with the Mystery, unique and not to be judged. Oh yeah, forgot to mention that I don't live in a gated community. But places outside of them can have a few rules. I know suburb places that are strict about what is on someone's front property. I knew a guy that lived a while away where I'm from. And he got told that he couldn't have one of those fake ponds on his front property. A few days ago on the news, there was a house in another town, and she was told that she couldn't have a vegitible(damn spell check isn't showing me how to spell it right aggh!) garden on her front lawn. It's causing a lot of controversy, and there is even a fb group about it. Maybe I can fin that link on youtube later. IP: Logged |

yep stawr, that incident is what created this post. I posted it in Gaia`s Garden:This reminded me of Starfox`s thread but thought another one needed to grumble on After I was talking about vacant inner city lots being used for veggies here comes Oak Park and their snooty community saying veggies are not "common or appealing" . I work for gated communities and home associations and this happens all the time there but in a citizens own tax paying city??? Oak Park, MI Bass' cool garden has landed her in hot water with the City of Oak Park. Code enforcement gave her a warning, then a ticket and now she's been charged with a misdemeanor. "I think it's sad that the City of Oak Park that's already strapped for cash is paying a lot of money to have a prosecutor bothering us," Bass told FOX 2's Alexis Wiley. "That's not what we want to see in a front yard," said Oak Park City Planner Kevin Rulkowski. Why? The city is pointing to a code that says a front yard has to have suitable, live, plant material. The big question is what's "suitable?" We asked Bass whether she thinks she has suitable, live, plant material in her front yard. "It's definitely live. It's definitely plant. It's definitely material. We think it's suitable," she said. So, we asked Rulkowski why it's not suitable. "If you look at the definition of what suitable is in Webster's dictionary, it will say common. So, if you look around and you look in any other community, what's common to a front yard is a nice, grass yard with beautiful trees and bushes and flowers," he said. http://www.myfoxdetroit.com/dpp/news/local/julie-bass-of-oak-park-faces-misdemeanor-charge-for-vegetable-garden-20110630-wpms ------------------ ------------------ Christian, Jew, Muslim, Shaman, Zoroastrian, stone, ground, mountain, river, each has a secret way of being with the Mystery, unique and not to be judged. OMG yeah! It was oak park! I live a few towns away from there! LOL I can't believe how big this story is... I was talking to another woman where I work today. She lives in Oak Park too. So I asked her what she thought about it. She said she thinks it's wrong that she was being picked on by the city when her garden looks nice...When there is another house near her where hoarders live. (probably almost as bad as the people on that tv show) IP: Logged |

It was so hot out yesterday! But today I'm just chilling in the AC house, haven't stepped outside yet.But I definitely prefer heat over cold. Most of the time. I love the Spring, Summer, and Fall here. But I confess, I love not having to go into work or school for a snow day. Have fun at the lake!!! IP: Logged |

I do. The rules are strict but then you have the trade-offs for safety. At first the rules bothered me but now I accept them. Humans don't like rules by our very nature but we need them. That is my philosophy anyway.------------------ Do You Think This Psychic is Cute? http://www.mychristianpsychic.com/
