I know I should say something cool but 'Last Christmas' by Wham gets me everytime. Reminds me of school discos and teenage angst.

Oh! Carol of the bells, hands down! I get chills listening to that song.

Also, this one makes me cry. But I still love it...

OH, and you know what is fun? Making up your own words to 'The Twelve Days of Christmas'. My brother used to have me rolling when he did that.

The lyrics to "Deck The Halls" as done by Pogo Possum

quote:
Deck us all with Boston Charlie,
Walla Walla, Wash., an' Kalamazoo!
Nora's freezin' on the trolley,
Swaller dollar cauliflower alley-garoo!

Don't we know archaic barrel,
Lullaby Lilla boy, Louisville Lou?
Trolley Molly don't love Harold,
Boola boola Pensacoola hullabaloo!

Bark us all bow-wows of folly,
Polly wolly cracker n' too-da-loo!
Hunky Dory's pop is lolly gaggin' on the wagon,
Willy, folly go through!

Donkey Bonny brays a carol,
Antelope Cantaloup, 'lope with you!
Chollie's collie barks at Barrow,
Harum scarum five alarum bung-a-loo!

(NOTE: Diligent researchers, including the esteemed
folk-lorist, Professor Jiggs Potlook, have also unearthed
the following partial verses. We make no guarantee
for their authenticity. For further research, kindly
consult Kelly, Walt; Deck Us All With Boston Charlie,
Simon and Schuster, 1963.)

quote:
Duck us all in bowls of barley,
Hinky dinky dink an' Polly Voo!
Chilly Filly's name is Chollie,
Chollie Filly's jolly chilly view halloo!

Bark us all bow-wows of folly,
Double-bubble, toyland trouble! Woof, Woof, Woof!
Tizzy seas on melon collie!
Dibble-dabble, scribble-scrabble! Goof, Goof, Goof!

Tickle salty boss anchovie
Wash a wash a wall Anna Kangaroo
Ducky allus bows to Polly,
Prolly Wally would but har'ly do!

Dock us all a bowsprit, Solly --
Golly, Solly's cold and so's ol' Lou!

Little Drummer Boy, Good King Wenceslas, Silent Night, Deck the Halls, and others. I like most of them, when I'm in the mood for it.

A couple of years ago, I liked Christmas Eve, by a band whose name I can't remember. Little Donkey, and, crap... I've forgotten the name of the other favourite from my childhood. This keeps happening to me. Oh! Away in a Manger.

Silly ones include Santa Baby, and There's Something Stuck up in the Chimney.

Oh I have to agree on the Last Christmas song by Wham. I was about 16 when that came out.

Santa Baby is another golden oldie

And at my grandma's she would play Grandma Got Run Over by a Reindeer <classic>.

Oh and any xmas songs by PDQ Bach. Google that name and listen to one of them, quite funny.

There's more but that's all my nyquil stuffed head can muster right now...

This is my absolute favorite Christmas song

I listened to it over and over as a child
and now that I've found it again
I listen to it over and over again now too.
The lyrics are perfect.♥

Judy Garland
Have yourself a merry little Xmas.
I bled listening to that song in 1986 but knew by the words
"Next year all our troubles will be miles away" that all would be well.
And it was.

I have Sixpence None the Richer's Christmas CD, and I like their versions of Angels We Have Heard On High and Silent Night.

There's one song that is very popular, but it calls the Christmas star a comet. I thought that was very odd (albeit probably true).
