they probably forget why they are in the car

maybe old age just causes their senses to become weaker and they turn into less aware drivers

I guess they feel like that ^^ about gas pedals and green lights and not driving in the passing lane: weird and scary compared to the old days, cruising in their bucket seat oldsmobile with Perry Como blasting and some delicious hard candy in their mouths feeling like the hippest cats on the planet.
