I'm sorry,I don't know where to post this. But I'm just worried.A couple months back I was a member of another astrology forum.I asked for a synastry reading, but being new I didn't think to remove our info.A guy on that forum seemed a little off,he knew about astrology but he was one of those fatalistic ones.He had nothing nice to say about my exs chart. Then he told me I was gonna meet someone else soon, cause he had done a solar return chart for me.So clearly that means he took our info too, instead of just giving a synastry reading.I didn't put our last names, just my first and his nickname. So my question is,can you steal someones identity with the info that you need to make a chart?I'm really worried.Did I do something really stupid? IP: Logged |

Oh Gemmy, I'm sorry that happened to you. If he doesn't have a last name, I don't think he can do a lot with your information. (Identity Theft)Look at it as a lesson learned in the future, Be aware. ------------------

Yeah,it is a lesson learned.I just hope it's not too little too late. I'm not even worried about my info,it was my doing.I'm more worried about my exs info,he's not even into astrology. IP: Logged |

Well, I believe you can request your personal info not be released, especially your Birth Certificate. Where ever one was born, call them or hit them up online and ask them as it contains the key piece of data those slugs need, your mothers' maiden name. You also can can get 1 free copy of your credit report(s) once a year, and don't go overboard with the services that offer to "monitor" your reports as they typically are..legal scams. IP: Logged |

Don't you need a social security number to get a birth certificate and vice versa?Everyone keeps telling me not to worry, cause to get anything like a ss card or birth certificate they ask for alot of proof of idenity. Also there are alot of places on the internet where you can find someones full name, dob, and hometown.Like I said before,I'm not worried about mine, this is my fault.I'm worried about my ex info,I'm hoping the fact that I didn't use his real name(just his nickname),makes a difference. So if he is one if those people,he only has his birth date and place of birth, but no name. Does that help? IP: Logged |

If he was really determined and resourceful, he probably could. I know people that probably could. But there are much easier fish out there. If it's just a matter of him wanting to snatch your info and commit fraud, it would probably be more trouble than it's worth to pursue the course of action needed to dig up the rest of the information needed. I agree w/ PPs - take a peek at your credit report, and take this as a lesson learned. IP: Logged |

You should be fine, I do cringe a bit when I see folks post all of their info with their birth chart though.Change the name from henceforth at least and everything should be fine. IP: Logged |

He would have a hard time. You can't get one proof of identity without the other.I can check my credit report, but not his. That's what I'm really worried about. I just read a few articles(one by consumers report)where they said identity theft was hyped,to get you to buy identity protection. Not that it didn't happen, just that it was hyped. I hope this is just my nerves getting the best of me.I have a whole lot of anxiety,I even get stomach aches.which I have right now. IP: Logged |

Your fine, so long as you didn't give him anything such as your Social Security number and last name in order to back track he'd have to have your last name in order to get your address plus there are a number of security codes most people have to go through to confirm that they are you. Such as any other addresses you may have lived at within the past 10 yrs, your Hs graduation year, banks were you have taken out student loans, your mother's maiden name etc.IP: Logged |
