I only have myself to rely on for support and kind words and don't always do a good job of it.

I always saw that smiley as a sort of childlike, mouth wide open, exlaiming excitement or awe or like it's gasping, and the sparkles are like a happy aura about it. Like it was exlaiming "oh wow yeah!"

Learned a long time ago, I am my own best support system. Other people tend to eff it up. So I need to stay away from everyone for awhile, while I do my own healing.

Might not be the healthiest way (by society's standards), but it's how I have to go about it right now. And for me, i think it is actually the healthiest way. Until I get healed enough, I can't let anyone else in, or deal with anyone else in my life. Trying to stay steady. And can't have anyone rock the boat more than it already has been for awhile. I've had PLENTY of that. Need to enjoy the calm seas on my own for some time. Without anyone else's voice or madness thrown in. I've known enough of that in my life and i'm done trying to heal others. My turn now.

It makes perfect sense; relying on yourself to avoid disappointment. I'm glad you can say that it's your turn to heal and everyone else can take a back seat. I used to feel guilty for thinking in those lines because I associated it with being selfish. Generally we tend to place our own needs last.

Although there are individuals who find healing while helping others and it works well for them, it's ok to heal yourself first and then aid in healing others. What use would we be to any person if we are in tatters?

Trust your inner voice. No one else truly knows what YOU need in this point in time. People may have similar experiences yet the same methods do not apply to everyone. I think it causes more confusion when you have this one and that one tugging you around to try this and that.

You understand. It takes wisdom to know this. Yes, it can seem selfish at first, but it isnt. Some people say it's taking the easy way out. In some instances it might be for some people, but in my case it is not. Anyway, thanks

Those who care will be understanding and won't even think of it selfish. If they don't..like someone once told me; kick them the hell out of your life. It sounds harsh yet it has worked for me.
You need those who will grow with you; not be a destructive force in your life because they are "stuck" in old habits and refuse to change themselves.

As for your health issue....

wow that is really tough to deal with on many levels. I can't even imagine.

A quick update:
Yesterday, they found traces of protein in my urine. When protein is found in the urine it can signify kidney disease. The amount of protein can determine whether it's in the early stages or advanced. These are complications caused by diabetes. Luckily mine was detected early and it can be treated (my blood pressure was quite high too). They're treating it with angiostin (forgive the incorrect spelling - it doesn't look right to me) receptor blocker.

Having more tests this morning. One will be to see how much blood my kidneys are filtering.

Once this is all sorted we can try out the alternative method I mentioned previously.

Thanks very much. You've been quite helpful and supportive considering our history. I just want you to know that I sincerely appreciate it.

Got together with a couple of friends on Saturday to distribute toys and clothing to a couple of shelters. I was instructed to rest but restlessness got the better of me. Then yesterday, bleh. Slept the entire day away! I feel bad because wolfy fluffa missed out in his walk but we can try and make up for it today some time.
