Have to be honest here..sewing machines are mysterious to me.

Have to feed the thread in, change the speed on the needle, line up the fabric to be sewed, uhm..yeah.

To me, when I see suit makers, who no doubt are talented, ditto dress makers, have to admit I'm really impressed at their skill.

My Grandmother could sew, and knit, and crocchet, as well as do macrome and we'd talk and it was usually "knit one, pearl two"

WELL. I'm kinda maybe into cosplay. So sewing is a must for the more complex costumes that you must make by hand...

Hi padre! I used to sew... Using a sewing machine is easy once you get the hang of it. Patience is important, as well as liking tiny details, and knowing patterns. But it's like driving a car... you get the feel of it, then the rest becomes automatic.

Made polyester pant suits, and fluffy dresses for my toddlers [in the 80s] and for my friends' little girls. Lots of mending! Life got a bit faster and I gave it up to go out and work.

Knitted and crocheted a few scarves... but it made me tense and frustrated rather than relaxed. Kept losing my place or count. So I stopped. Been thinking about trying to knit a scarf, again.

My paternal grandmother crocheted unbelievable table lace, and made beautiful quilts for the whole family. Maternal grandmother made my mittens, and boot socks.

Wonderful memories... thankyou.
(going to bed now... bye)

I love to sew. I was taught by my Granny and spent many hours with the sewing machine humming away while listening to her sing hymns. Fond memories.

In later years, I took a home sewing job for a bullet proof vest company. It was tedious, back breaking and very lucrative.

The money wasn`t worth the headache and I learned when no hymns are sung, life is a chore .

Now Im back to humming , creating gifts from the material, penniless and loving life again.

I love to sew, but am not trained in it and not very knowledgable about my machine besides the basics of running it. I could not sew wearable clothing, partly because I don't have the patience for it and am more interested in using it for creating textile art.

I bought a darning foot for my machine so I can "draw" on fabric with the needle and move freely when need be and i liked to make mixed media textile art and "fabric paintings" or art quilts. Something I enjoy but do not do enough of.

It would be nice to be skilled enough to make clothing, but I have my hands full with other things to do and tbh, don't want to bother with all the attention to detail that takes.

Knitting and crocheting has always appealed to me too, but I have never learned how.

I sewed a patchwork quilt for my daughter (with a sewing machine) and have been hand-quilting it for the past several years. It's hard to find time for it, as my younger children are apt to trounce on it while I'm working.

But I love the rhythm of quilting. My hands find it addictive after an hour or two...they want to keep the motion going. Very calming.

I love to sew and embroider, mostly by hands though. I have a sewing machine but I rarely use it. I’ve been sewing since I was little. Hemming the pants, sewing buttons, making dresses, dolls’ clothes and silk slippers... For my clothes I like using raw silk, linen and organic cotton. It’s fun, and it’s also cheaper than the linen clothes in the shops, they are too expensive +__+

Recently I start to like making stuffed felt toys.

I'm actually interested in sewing couch slip covers.

I have a vague idea from watching YouTube instructional videos, but haven't physically done so.

Otherwise I've just done basic sewing such as repairing pants, buttons and etc.

I also used to make pillows, but that was ages ago.
