I am the pied piper. I am youthful and colourful and children love me. In my last neighbourhood, I'd organise the children of the terrace and we'd all play games like man hunt and survival tag. It was mostly 8-12 year olds but there were sometimes older children like 14-15, and at our populace nights there would be maybe 15 of us all together, scampering around. Now go on, show some fixedy and talk about yourself! IP: Logged |

I wanna be the younger, female version of the Wizard of Oz. I really love that character and like the way he is always pretending then when his cover is blown, he gives people simple items that signify big changes in their psyches. I want that power!IP: Logged |

I loved Oz The Great And Powerful! I saw it when it came out at the theaters and need to get a copy on DVD, thanks for reminding me! Thought James Franco was great in it, and both ladies who played the witches! I felt bad for Theodora, too, since she was deceived by her sister, I think, into eating the apple. Liked the plot twists and the special effects tho. Loved the cinematography and would recommend it to everyone. Great movie!

OMG @peach, I love Rapunzel from 'tangled' for you, it's so perfect. I can just see it working for you, somehow! Good pick. As for me, I'd say Megara. Sarcastic? Check. Ambivalent and cynical about love, yet warm hearted and vulnerable? Check. Intellectual and loves a good come-back? Double check. In terms of Disney versioned fairy tale/mythological characters I always saw myself most like her. IP: Logged |

Offhand, I'd have to go with Pippi Longstocking, someone I admired since I was 5. Even to this day I'll look at Pippi books or watch shows and movies. Her independent nature especially appealed to me as well as her Sag silliness & optimism. 'Course it's not perfect, not even when I was a kid, as she wasn't much into learning anything or reading while I was. As for fairy tales, I just can't relate to most, especially not female characters who tend to be so passive and requiring rescue (even when they save themselves it's still through submission). I do recall admiring Br'er Rabbit when I was a child, however, I've always liked the scrappy Tricksters, including clever Russian foxes and trickster cats like Puss in Boots (not to be confused with the swashbuckler in the Shrek series, though that PiB is also fun). I've also had an admiration for Freya once I read up on her, a scrappy independent woman herself (but I'd had a vision of her before I looked into her). I wrote my own fairy tales as a child which often included a little girl heroine (that I identified with) very much like Gretel in Hansel and Gretel. To a lesser extent I related to the woman in East of the Sun, West of the Moon. And I related SO MUCH to Rosaleen in The Company of Wolves (an artistic retelling of Little Red Riding Hood) with her uncomfortable questions (and challenging of religion), love and admiration of her grandmother, loving & sharing fairy tales (as I did as a child), reckless behavior, mix of honor & bravery & compassion, and one of my favorite moments where she realizes the Huntsman (werewolf) has killed her granny and plans to eat her, and she makes casual conversation staring out the window and thus stealthily getting the Huntsman gun, and when he asks (in response to her saying "It must be dreadfully cold out there" to the wolves waiting outside), "Do you feel sorry for them?" Rosaleen then picks up his gun and says, "And for you!" To me, she should save (or damn) herself. I also played Snegurochka once at a Russian American Christmas party and it was great fun (and very profitable). As for Disney, I really related to the character of Merida in the movie Brave (and though I'm a Libra with a lot of Sag, I could see the character as a Sag with a lot of Libra). IP: Logged |

Ariel in Little Mermaid: Red hair (I dyed it, but hey that still counts lol), curious, optimistic, determined, love sick, want to find love and to be loved, intense need/want to break free. Bad judgement and naivety lead to disaster kaka http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iCo4PL-N6t4 Mowgli in The Jungle Book: I am (or was) a feral child =))
When I was little I was obsessed with this song. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PV2GZF8rKT4 IP: Logged |
