It is a cruel world out there and these issues will crop up again and again.

CBS has a similar headache and imho handles it swiftly and correctly.

A participant in Big Brother said some ugly pointed rascist things. CBS spoke up immediately and said CBS does not hold the views or condone the participant but did not ban or sensor the individual.

At the beginning of the next program it stated the views of the contestants may not hold the companys policies and views, all watchers view with discretion.

That is a fair and equitable way to handle the views of ones who do not agree with us over issues of any flavor.

If no one is selling hate , religious beliefs etc, use discretion and wise judgement but allow others to have a view .

He is just another rabid Christian cherry picker choosing the bits he likes and dumping the rest.

There is a fine line betwixt free speech and hate speech.

Also finding this issue humorous is a sure sign of a person being a hater and a bigot using religion to justify their hate.
Just like a person in the KKK;
where does free speech and hate end?

Shows do that a lot, too, though sometimes it backfires like when the View recruited Rosie to be offensive enough to draw in viewers but then she went too far so they dropped her but I don't think the show ever fully recovered.

By embracing homophobia and doubling down on it with the embrace of the conservative right, the father/son duo and most prominent faces of Duck Dynasty destroyed the core of their brand, which was that of a family-friendly reality show.

The millions of viewers who’ve abandoned Duck Dynasty sent a clear and firm message: hate is not a family value. Brands, television networks, and all others who wish to maintain a successful business in 2014, take note: what happened to Duck Dynasty can happen to you. When it comes to the gays: if you can’t say anything nice…well, you know the rest.
