Has someone told you that you don't count as a minority?

The word "minority" is weird to me anyway. If I'm not mistaken, isn't every race expect for non-Hispanic Caucasian considered a minority? Maybe I don't understand the term correctly.

That reminds me that I have to start looking into scholarships based on my race :-/.

For your kid to have a chance to begin with is good stuff . No worries, YTA. Or at least, no worries beyond what's necessary to worry about.

I agree with this.

Ugh, I get fed up with race labels. I remember as a kid being told that because I speak in complete sentences and don't like doing "ghetto fabulous" stuff that I was acting "white".

If it seems a lot of a certain race is overrepresented, maybe it's because they're trying harder? Idk. This whole thing could be going over the top of my head. I believe we should all be on the same playing field regardless of race, encouraged to push ourselves and be rewarded accordingly because of actions, not color.

Of course. In no way am I saying money is not important to the people who need it.

I could not attend college right out of high school because I was worried about putting that burden on my parents. I went straight to work after high school.

I believe myself to be very book smart but I was also not sure what career path I wanted to take. I still don't know sometimes what I want to do. I have it narrowed down though .

There was a book that listed a whole bunch of scholarships that you can rent from the library, written by a couple that funded their Harvard education from scholarships alone. I have to see if I can find the 2014 edition. I think their last name was Tanaka. Not sure.

Don't feel bad YTA, your son works hard and deserves it.I know a white guy who used a minority scholarship to get into a predominantly African American school. Now that's pretty genius if you really think about it.
