Experience like this happened to me last night

I'm super creeped out right now.

A guy I know said something like this happened to him as a little boy. He heard breathing under his bed, though when he started shouting for his parents the breathing stopped. After the parents went back to bed the breathing started again. He was terrified, but after awhile he started to talk to it and though the breathing was heavy, the voice was whispery, even indistinct at first but became clearer. He asked its name and couldn't understand it so the breathing got frustrated and just said to call him Timothy.

And so they became friends, and though the breathing sounded like that of an adult male Timothy would show up as a blond boy his own age wearing white in his dreams and show him the future. Like once Timothy took him to a row of cars and into one specifically in which he not only vividly saw everything, but got the smell (unusual in dreams), and a week later his dad brought that exact car home, right down to the smell.

His parents became concerned as he talked about Timothy, and once Timothy told him his mother was listening to them talk at the door (though the mother wasn't able to hear the breathing or the voice) and found it was true (had told Timothy she wouldn't do that so his mom was especially freaked).

After puberty Timothy disappeared. But when he was 14 he almost drowned in a giant pool with artificial waves. The only thing that saved him was a blond man (fully grown) in white trunks who yelled at him to swim to him in a commanding tone. As he was still a boy he instinctively obeyed and when he got to the side he realized that man saved his life...and he was gone. He now believes that man was Timothy. But he's had no further contact other than that (despite trying).

Just a little background~ I'm used to hearing noises like footsteps, or banging around in the basement when no one's there. My kids' toys go off by themselves, often in the middle of the night...it all gives me a sense that spirits are with me, and I'm generally ok with that. (Maybe because I have logical excuses for everything, if I want them: I can tell myself that the electricity just surged in the kids' toys' batteries and the boiler was cycling in the basement, etc.)

I decided to write off the disembodied breathing (mentioned above) as the sound of crickets reverberating off my bedroom wall...mainly because I didn't want to think about it anymore.

Then last night I was home alone with my oldest son who is 14. I was sitting on a sofa near the door to the stairs to the above-ground "basement" when suddenly I heard someone whispering loudly on the middle of those stairs. The voice was low and harsh and basically sounded like an evil spirit...though I couldn't make out any of the words.

I was frozen in fear for about ten seconds while this demon voice hissed at me. When it stopped, I called to my son, and I was relieved to hear him in the basement, near the stairs. For a split second I assumed he had stepped out of character and pulled a prank on me...though his movement up and down the stairs would have to have been supernaturally quiet. And it just didn't sound like him at all.

Still I asked him if he had just been whispering on the stairs...and he came up the stairs, looked at me wide-eyed saying, "You heard it, too?" He was genuinely creeped out. He says he had his back to the stairs and also heard the voice coming down from about the middle.

Nobody here knows my son, all I can say is...it would have been totally out of character for him to fake all this.

I asked him to repeat what he had heard and he imitated the voice exactly. He also thought he caught the word "beware."

He recovered from the spook and is handling it better than I am. (Though he's cautioned me that if it goes further, he's going to want us to pack up and flee the house. I haven't told him about the "breathing ghost," so he doesn't know this is apparently following me from one house to the other.)

A few hours after the voice incident, my husband and I were up talking, and the room filled with light. He had his eyes closed but said, "What was that?!!" because it was bright enough to go through his eyelids. I just calmly said, "Lightning." He got up and looked out the window and said, "It couldn't be lightning, there's not a cloud in the sky." He was really bothered by it...he concluded it must've been a huge meteor explosion...maybe it was, but with the timing, I was tempted to wonder if it was a poltergeist.

I am *SO* not the kind of person who has these things happen to her.

But they keep happening. My only consolation is that it makes a decent ghost story, and anyone reading this can thank their lucky stars that it isn't happening to them or, if it is, you are not alone.

Please don't quote.

I'm not sure if I should be doing this or not...maybe if I ignore the problem it will go away? But I just looked at this poltergeist video.

Last night after my husband went to sleep, a bunch of stuff fell off the top shelf in our bedroom closet, crashing very loudly on the floor. He thinks it was just normal...something unstable slipped and brought down other stuff...but I'm not sure.

Will delete later.

Thanks for reading, muddy. The flash of light was indeed a meteor (reported on the internet), and simple gravity could have pulled our stuff off the shelf, but I have a witness for that voice, and no "normal" explanation fits.

Uranus is transiting conjunct my 9H Jupiter and how cow, this is forcing me to re-evaluate everything spiritually. I had written off "demons" as imaginary.

Also, maybe with my Scorpio NN, I'm being forced into a deeper acquaintance with the occult and will end up having to consult with spirit healers and all that.

As long as my kids remain ok, I'll be ok.

Wow, you guys' stories make my own experiences so much less significant! But I will share them anyway. I have always been very empathetic, maybe a little psychic too, but I can't use my "psychic ability" whenever I wish.

My first story was told by my mother, she said when I was about two maybe three, I always loved being held next to the window in our apartment because I can see what's out there. One time, my mom held me up like every other day, but as soon as I looked out the window, she said I freaked out and begged her to turn around so I don't see the apartment right across from us. Then a few days later, someone died in that apartment.

Second story, my friend had just moved out of her old house that was haunted and full of "activities." When I say activities, I mean her dad being thrown out of bed during his sleep, the whole entire king sized mattress being flipped upside down. Seeing shadows running around and such. Anyway, her family moved into an apartment, she invited us to watch a movie at her new place. During the middle of the movie, the heavy red toolbox that was placed in front of her tv table suddenly moved and fell on its side. That was the closest time I've seen anything paranormal.

Third story, after my beloved grandma passed away, she would communicate with me in my dreams. I remember the very first dream I've had of her, she was panicking and telling me that "they are trying to take me away, I don't want to leave." Then, she just disappeared. A few weeks after that dream, my mom and aunt also dreamt of her. In my aunt'so dream, grandma asked "did I die?" My aunt replied, "yes, you didn't know?" In my mom's dream, my grandma was standing next to her bed and asking my mom if she wanted to go with her. My mom replied, "not yet." Then, my grandma took off and disappeared. Also, my mom had a similar dream but it was of my grandpa when he passed away. My grandpa also wanted her to go with him.

Fourth story, I dreamt of a deceased friend who passed away recently. Actually I don't know whether it was a visitation or just because I have been thinking of her a lot lately that I'm causing myself to dream about her. But in my dream, she was sitting down in front of me and offering me a bowl of fruits. I also knew she was dead and was surprised to see her.

I am not the best story teller but I think I got my point across lol

Also, I want to pray for you all that if these spirits or ghosts visit you, I pray that they won't have ill intentions.

YIKES! (Where is the hair-standing-up emoticon? I need one.)

Thanks for the stories and your prayers, bethbabe. I have to say, I'm at this odd place in my life where videos and tales of poltergeist activity hit me in a different spot than before: they used to excite my brain as something novel and "fun," and now they hit my gut as something that could really, genuinely dismantle my life and worldview. I'm scared of them.

But...

Even if whatever is apparently haunting me DOES throw me down and hurl a mattress at me...I insist on taking some good from the experience. It will open my mind to reality and help me be more understanding of others who try and convey their paranormal experiences.

And I've never heard of poltergeists lasting for a very long time...or actually killing someone...please no one contradict me on that, I'm not ready to be enlightened on that subject yet.

I love your perspective of taking new experiences as a part of reality, faith. And I am thinking of the saying, "seeing is believing" and that just puts your mind at a different level from those who haven't seen or experienced. I'm sorry if I didn't get all the stories about your situation. But I remembered that you mentioned your house was haunted? If so, have you thought of moving? You don't need to talk about it if it makes you uncomfortable.
