I make my own pomade, Faith. I'm not sure about your hair, but mine is super thick, slightly fuzzy, and big curls. Not so great when I'm in the middle of growing it out, and I always need something to keep the frizz at bay.

I leave my conditioner in just a bit (whether it's supposed to be left in or not), so that offers a bit of weight, as well as the ability to get a brush through it.

And then I make the pomade with coconut oil, shea butter, and beeswax. It works pretty well to keep my crazy hair manageable. And when I want to pin it up or back, it also helps to keep it held in place.

I have fairly fine hair but quite a lot of it.

This product (by Oi) is by far and away the best conditioner I ever used on my hair. My hairdresser suggested it to me but I don't think they have it in stock anymore so I will probably have to order online. You only have to use a tiny bit and it really gets rid of tangles and conditions your hair.

(sorry for the large image)

Generally I don't like the usual commercial products you get in chemists but Garnier aren't too bad, and Timotei.

Another more professional range I like is "It's a 10".

Never tried Garnier (yet.)

I want to mention, I like BioSilk, a tiny bit cancels all my poof like a charm. I just hate the price so much ($13 for a tiny bottle.)

Ok, so my ideas aren't 100% natural and might be a little pricey, but I think they are worth the money.

I love, love, and really love the Alterna Caviar line.

Kind of expensive, but the shampoo, conditioner, 10-in-1 treatment creme, and blowout creme will leave your hair very shiny and smooth.

I have shi.t hair, and it has done wonders for me.

They have gift sets at Sephora if you want a sample of their best products to see if it will work for you.

Huh? No... My hair is greasy as crap if I don't wash it everyday. It's my understanding that washing it everyday is not good for hair. I wonder if there's something I can get to cut down on the greasiness.

My hair didn't look greasy in that picture because I had just washed it. I actually use the Paul Mitchell tea tree shampoo but my hair gets really greasy if I don't wash it every single day. Seriously.. It will look like I just poured vegetable oil in it if I go a day without washing it. I envy people who can go days without washing their hair and it will still look clean.

So you are probably producing too much sebum since obviously you are not in puberty or going through menopause. At least I hope you are not.

-Do NOT use shampoo with silicone in it. It makes your hair even more greasier.

-Find a gentle cleansing shampoo with salicylic acid, selenium sulfide or ketoconazole to reduce oil buildup at scalp
Here is a good one: Neutrogena T/Sal Therapeutic Shampoo– Scalp Build-Up Control

-The reason you want gentle is because too aggressive or strong shampoos will irritate the hair follicle and actually increases oil production

-Do you have dandruff at the scalp? That is also an indicator of sebum build up and you will need to address this if that is the case

-Shampoo every 2-3 days. People say that washing every day can help, but it actually stimulates your oil glands too much.

-If your hair tends to be oily, try not using conditioner- you don't need the extra moisture

-Eat plenty of foods with Vitamin A and D, and definitely take an Omega supplement

-Use cold water when washing your hair, hot water can make the oil production worse

-Don't touch your hair

The greasiness could come from the washing it everyday for however long you've been doing it for. Sounds like your hair's built a tolerance and needs to be trained.

I would suggest cutting it down, if you can, to every other day. I used to have a similar problem, my hair is very thick and curly, I wash my hair every 2 days and haven't had greasy hair since. Sulfate free shampoos are pretty good. I use keratin shampoos and conditioners.

Get a deep cleaning shampoo, do you use conditioner?

My sister has oily hair and it used to be really bad. Her hair looks great now. So you can definitely see great results, may take a few months though.

Edit: Paul Mitchell is a really good brand, but tea tree oil may not as effective when mixed with other ingredients. Tea tree oil works best when applying it after shampooing your hair. Towel dry lightly and then apply about 10 drops of pure tea tree oil. Rub into your scalp and then dry and style your hair as usual.

Bella, your breadth of knowledge is downright creepy.

You talk sports, medical, astrological, and cosmetic jargon...anything else? Automotive?

Blame it on a Mercury trine Jupiter and strongly aspected Pluto. I have to know everything!

I also make sure to do my research, because I never want to answer something without the evidence to back it up. That is how you do it in academia. My mind never stops unfortunately.

Faith, have you tried the leave in conditioner Headress by Nexxus?

I love it for my rather long ,wavey , fly away hair. It makes it managable, shiney and has incredible volume.

Put it on wet hair, dry and style without the tangles and fly away frizzies
