Sooooo many, I read anything that looks interesting.

I'm a huge romance fan so I tend to read a ton of romance. I like suspense and books that constantly keep the reader on their toes. I LOVE books that manipulate the mind, make you question your sanity and morals lol.

Just finished the book. I never read all about Bloody Mary from the beginning to the end.

What hit me was how she was sooo crazy about a guy and he did not care for her and she died of a broken heart and through all of it she became a zealot to kill people of a different faith. It seemed like a Nessus/Deja relationship and those truly are killer lol

Very sad how she had a bad childhood and she took the pain and let it poison her life.

I have a whole pile of books. I have several detective ones from one of my fave authors. He wrote as Evan Hunter and Ed Mc Bain and a Mary Queen of Scots biography.

I am not sure which I am going to start. There is nothing like a great detective book. Ever read Laurence Sanders--pure genius.

Awesome that you like and respect "Night" by Elie W and Schindler's List. I wish more people would. It would assuage a lot of the current world's problems

I have not read the others.

I started Mary Queen of Scots. Then, I think I will get a book on Phillip, who married Mary. I did not like Mary but her love for him was such a sad story because he did not care at all for her. In fact, he wanted her sister, which was a more terrible thing for Mary to behold, although it may not have been that obvious but she must have known.

It is interesting to branch out from the Tudors. I never have since I was a teen and started getting obsessed with them lol

My school read both. Very, very powerful. Those as well as the Diary of Anne Frank all made me cry. I remember my entire class cried. It's sad when you think of what people went and lived through. I just pray that it never repeats again.

Mary, Queen of Scots had a sad life too. Being forced to marry your rapist first cousin who ends up being murdered. I couldn't imagine being forced to my marry my first cousin lol, could you? She hated James. He was abusive to her from what I've read from historians, very cruel to her. To think that she was just a child when she married her first husband is crazy to me. I can't imagine being married at her age and then within a year being a widow. She went through a lot of trauma throughout her life.

The royals lived pretty fast paced lives especially if they were widowed and not too old to remarry. The queens were pawns literally. I couldn't imagine life as one back then.

Mary Tudor was a sad, sad woman. She was filled with so much hate. Perhaps that's why Phillip didn't love her. She wasn't very attractive either lol. She probably drove him mad with her obsession of Elizabeth.

The Tudor and Stuart families are two of the most fascinating royal families. I loved the Valois family too.

Barbie

My question is which historical figures in all of them do you find the most fascinating.

Do you like Cromwell? I have a big book on him but have not read it.

I have a new book on Mary Tudor. It is really big so looks packed with everything lol

That's a tough one. They're all so entertaining. If I had to pick it'd be Marie Antoinette and Louis XVI. They lived such lavish lives that ended the most tragic. I love reading about them and enjoy watching any movie or documentary I can find.

Cromwell I haven't read too much on. I do know that he was an incredible military strategist.

I bet that Mary Tudor book is very interesting. She was something else.

On your recommendation, I will branch out to Marie Antionette.

Yea, that Mary Tudor book looks good. I am at the beginning of Mary Queen of Scotts. She is about 6 years old and goes to France to live to be married to the heir of the French throne.

I never read about her before.

What do you think of lady Jane Grey?

Mary, Queen of Scots is a good one. She lived a sad life. Lots of death with marriage after marriage. Her downfall though was crossing Elizabeth for her crown lol. Everyone knew how that would end.

I've heard of Jane Grey but never read to much about her. What's her story?

Today is the anniversary of Katherine`s burial. Yesterday was the anniversary of Henry's death...different years but reminiscent of those lifelong couples who die in close succession to each other. They were married for 24 years!

Katherine's parents created the Inquisition. Mary was their grandaughter so maybe it wasn't a broken heart that made her so "Bloody"?

She is amazing, Barbie. She was so strong for God. She had really abusive parents but she became very strong and dignified.

She was queen for nine days before Mary. There was a plot hatched to make her queen which she did not want. It was a mess. They married her to a guy she did not want.

Mary told her she could avoid death if she would recant her faith in God but she would not and she got beheaded at the age of 17.

Jane Grey would not renounce her Protestant faith..Mary, a Catholic, never asked anyone to recant faith in God...

Loved the Bell Jar in my angsty teens. Applied to Smith because Plath went there. Glad I failed to get in.

that's awful. I've heard of her before but never read too deeply into her.

Mary had some serious issues. I don't even like reading about her because I can't take the bitterness.

I can't pick an all time favorite. I have so many. Typical Libra, right?
