Met his mother for the first time ; I stayed in her home for a few nights during a pit stop while driving cross-countries. He arranged the loge for me although he wasn’t himself in his hometown for the holidays. His mother told me that he couldn’t visit her because of work and that he also informed her that he has depression. She asked me whether he and I talk often, I told her, since we’re now on different continents, less so. (My polite answer to excuse her avoidant son.)On this walk together, she asked me how he and I had met? I told her we had been neighbors. Later that night after dinner with her and her partner, she showed me multiple photo albums of him as a baby. We giggled together. We really got along. She sent me off with sandwiches, cookies, and cake for the road. As I drove away, I cried. A legitimatized soultie that has never yet amounted to a shared life. IP: Logged |
