Basic Basic Astrology–What is Venus?
By amiann

Venus is what you find beautiful. Think of an Art Museum. Some people like water colors and pastels. Some people like somber, ponderous art. Some people love sculpture with it’s exquisite detail. Think of music. Some people like refined classical music. Within classical music, there is the lightness of Mozart, the heaviness of Wagner, the complexity of Bach and the emotive nature of Opera. One is attracted to one’s Venus Sign.

One loves in a Venus Sign way, also. One can love in a heavy emotive way such as a Scorpio Venus. One may pour intensity in to one’s lover, emotionally and sexually. One may love as a Gemini Venus, lightly as a butterfly. One may love as a Virgo Venus, wanting purity in one’s lover. One may love as a Capricorn Venus, wanting quality such that one can respect one’s lover. One may love as a Leo Venus, wanting charisma and glamor in his lover. Study your Venus to see what you love and how you love.

Venus in Aries in a Female (Venus in its Detriment)
By amiann | Published: February 16, 2012 |

Venus is a demure planet, one could say. It does not like to be in an aggressive sign, just as a true lady never chases a man. If your grandmother didn’t tell you that, she should have. Mars, the planet of war, loves to be in Aries. Scorpio, our favorite lothario, loves to be in Mars. However, with Venus, we have the demure energy of the lovely belle of the ball, dance card in hand, waiting for the gentlemen. Back to Venus in Aries. Aries IS the planet of action. You want Aries to be around, if the building is burning. Aries will go in and pull you out. Aries will defend the underdog. Aries will defend a friend, to the death. However, Venus does not do well with this level of dynamic energy. It bristles, as a girl who wears roller skates to the dance, when the others wear flats. Venus in Aries needs to ***** the nature of her Venus, and act accordingly. If this Venus is interested in a man, she should check the synastry to see if some of his stronger planets(yang ones) conjunct her weaker ones(yin ones) .Nature has it’s ways, whether we like it or not.

Venus in Gemini in a Female
By amiann | Published: February 14, 2012 |

Venus in Gemini is the girl men love to hate. She is akin to Mars in Scorpio, in a male. Both are legendary placements to those in the Astrological know. Venus in Gemini is delightful . She does not attract by force, as does Venus in Aries. She does not attract with sultriness, as does Venus in Scorpio. She attracts by being so much fun that people follow her. Some planets become enchanted in certain signs. Such is the case with Venus in Gemini. She becomes a fey. She dances from flower to flower, leaving the sense that one, really, did see a real life fairy.

Venus in Gemini has a terrible reputation for “love them and leave them”. I suppose I must cop the guilty plea on this. However, she does not leave lovers planning revenge, as does Venus in Scorpio. If she leaves, it is because she got bored. She will not slash your tires on the way out, as a Venus in Scorpio. She will find a man who is a little wittier than you. She loves words as Venus in Scorpio likes black silk. Charm her with words. Sexually, she wants to hear you talk. Your moves come second.

Her worst quality is, also, her best. She gets bored easily. This keeps her a stimulating companion, but may send her packing when you get boring. Boring to her, is the mundane routine of life. If you see a woman’s Venus in Gemini, check her moon and Ascendant. If she has a loyal moon, like Cancer, Leo or Taurus, you will be alright. If she has a Fixed sign Ascendant, like Scorpio or Leo, you will be alright. If she does not have compensating factors for stability, I would say, “Run for the hills”. Don’t look back. Gemini likes nothing more than a good chase.

Aries Venus— Does it Reverse Male and Female Roles?
By amiann | Published: February 13, 2012 |

Paula Abdul’s song “Crazy Cool” reminds me of a male Venus in Aries I knew. Granted it was in the 12th house, but he took demure to a new level. The male Venus in Aries may be as retiring as the most feminine Cancer moon.Is that a stretch? Probably. However, this male Aries needs a take charge woman. Can we say “Big Mama”. You do not have to be big, literally. However, you need to have a big attitude. Conversely, the female Venus in Aries WILL chase. This one does not know the meaning of “let him want you”. This female pursues as a Mars in Scorpio male. That is saying a lot. These two Venus’ may be perfect for each other. I am not sure, on that count. I have counseled several female Aries Venus’. They, usually, get angry when I tell them to slow down. Then, they disappear and I never get the answer to my question. To be continued……………………………………..

I like this thread lol id like to add something to male with venus in aries. Whatever u do, DON'T back down from a challenge with them or you'll lose them. They won't respect u in the end. Ur right u gotta have that fighter spirit if u want to hold their attention in the long run. Conquests r fun for them but watch how quickly it fizzles out. Ugh.

On another note I have venus in virgo and ur spot on once again hehe

I have a question about venus in retrograde. Does it affect anything? I have a friend who is virgo sun but with venus in leo but its retrograde. Any take on that?

YES Venus Retro is very hard!IT may be the hardest of all REtros. There is a thread on AStro 2. Check it out. I have wanted to write about Retros as I have 3--Saturn, neptune and mercury.

Thank you for your kind words. Yes, Venus in Aries men are very different all around when it comes to love. For me, that ONE thing would be a no go lol

Retrograde Planets
By amiann | Published: March 3, 2012

The Retrograde is shown by a little R next to the planet. It is the sign of prescription drugs. The Retrograde planet is very different. Lets say that off the bat.It is like a serious father when compared to the Non Retrograde planet Picture a wise old owl. It is forced to be such. The Retrograde planet must go round and round in the matters of the planet before he can understand the domain of the planet. He may stay forever in the spiral, going round and round. One hopes he makes it out but I have seen many who seemed locked in a fun house from Hell caught in this loop. I have seen this with Venus Retrograde. However, Venus Retrograde may be the most apparent as the native seems unable to do what is needed to love and be loved.

The Retrograde planet is the kid who must stay home and look out the window while the other kids are playing . He cannot join because he must help his mother with chores. When he is done, the kids have gone home. The life of the native of a Retrograde planet is different in the domain which the planet rules. Mercury Retrograde is the most common. This makes learning quirky. However, Mercury Retrograde is a positive Retrograde, in my humble opinion. I have it so can speak from experience. One has to learn in very methodical ways. The person must learn step by step. He cannot miss a step or he loses the whole trend and may have to start over. There is a building block type of learning. However, once he has it he can fly novel places . He can take what he has learned and fly unlike the traditionally Mercury. He may have strange quirks as not being able to copy mirror image movements but it is well made up for with flights of pure genius. The most important concept to remember with Retrograde planets is recycle. They go round and round trying to find the way out. When/if they do, they will be wise old owls. If they don’t, they seem locked in some nether place.

I think my Venus - one of my few direct planets! - in Taurus in the 7th is one of my chart's better features.

Honestly, though, I have so much fixed in my chart (Scorp Asc, Aqua Moon, Leo Mars) that I have a difficult time sussing out some of its influences from those of my other chart features.

Example: I could say that I'm "steady", but, yeah - of course I am

Venus is the planet of love and affection. Remember planets are modified by signs, where they express are houses and how they express are *aspects*

Wherever venus is placed is where we seek (and give out)pleasure, affection, money even

I have venus in the 4th and everyone that comes to my house gets cake and biscuits, in fact I call it, 'bake a cake syndrome'

Venus also can describe your taste in decor
Venus in air wants communication
venus in earth wants to do things and be practical
venus in water signs are 'tea and sympathy' types
venus in fire sign want action and freedom, saggi is usually late for settling down, venus in aries wants it NOW, venus in leo wants to be centre of attention, but is capable of being a 'drama queen'

In general, I never thought about this. If one would have a planet in a fire house, I suppose it would have some influence but I think it would be quite subtle imho.

Please, talk about your own specifics, if you want, and we can mull them over! xx

Hi Ami,

I just complained about my venus in the other thread..

I got venus in gemini in the 9th house, (snode)
cjt Midheaven,
square: jupiter (R) 6H pices, pluto 1H libra, ascendant libra
trine: mars 11H=12H, neptune (R) 2H=3H

Besides my interest in travelling, working and being in contact with foreign things, I dont know what else it does for me. or for anyone else :-)

Also, I am very "cancerian" and it feels like a gemini venus is a kind of false advertising of myself to men - when I let it go outside and play...

Scorpio Venus here. Venus in the 11th conjunct Jupiter, opposition Lilith. I am very sexual but can have sexual anorexia issues... feeling like I need to restrain from having sex since my sex drive can shame me from the depth and unexpected emotional intensity it carries. I also sum this up to Venus' dispositor, Pluto, being in the 12th house.

As for what I find beautiful, I really love things that are dark and eccentrically beautiful... Alexander McQueen clothes for example, are my favorites since he found beauty in what was considered weird or hideous. I find this to be a blend of the Scorp and 11th/Aqua influences.

People tend to focus on the Saturn Return for hard lessons and the Jupiter Return for luck, but many forget the importance of the Venus Return (similar to Jupiter).

Watch out! Here comes the venus in gemini AND moon in gemini with virgo asc, to top it off with bold aries sun/merc in 8th house. I dare say, I am a tad flighty and love many, many subjects but I do not feel that I get bored with ppl or relationships ..you know, unless they're drab as hell. I take relationships seriously and will commit without flinching... if they can keep my attention and banter with me for AT LEAST 3 hours at a time.

I think us venus gems are misunderstood... we're just looking to have fun, a stimulating conversation, freedom, creativity, laughter and your heart on your sleeve ... and I'm all yours.<3
